The Temple of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in Togliatti is one of the oldest churches in the city. This is a complex of buildings. History of the temple in Tolyatti

In 1842, a high bell tower was built in the city of Stavropol. Its height was 55 meters. In the warm part of this bell tower, a temple was founded in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. Later, in 1877, a temple was founded in the central part of the bell tower in honor of the icon of the Kazan Mother of God.

The bell tower was built near the Trinity Cathedral, which was closed in 1936, like most churches. Later, services in the cathedral were resumed, but in 1955 the temple, along with the bell tower, went under water, and the city of Stavropol was moved to another place - to the high bank of the river. In 1960, father Viktor Utekhin became the rector of the church, and two years later father Evgeny Zubovich. The duties of the clergy included not only conducting services in the Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in Togliatti, but also traveling to nearby villages to perform services.

Building a new temple

The church was built in one summer, and interior decoration work lasted a year and a half.

The construction of a new large temple was carried out in an era of shortage of building materials. Almost no money was allocated for the construction of churches. The secretary of the city executive committee Popov M. A. helped to obtain the necessary building materials. In honor of such an important event, a memorial plaque was installed in the church. The consecration of the new church took place in August 1987 by Archbishop John of Syzran and Kuibyshev.

Reconstruction of the temple

In 1989, a baptismal room was added to the church. A year later, the reconstruction of the church began. A high bell tower was built. The ringing of its bells is heard throughout the city. He seems to encourage people to come toworship.

In 2000, an icon case for the Shroud appeared in the temple. He is taken out with her to Holy Week and placed in the center of the hall. The rest of the time, the icon of the Holy Matronushka and Peter Chagrinsky is kept in the icon case.
