Faithful adherents of Islam live according to strict canons based on religious scriptures. The Quran, Sunnah and many other sources describe in detail what Muslims are not allowed to do. Limitations exist in many areas of life. We will talk about common taboos in this article.
Sleep on stomach
From what Muslims can't, some things look especially amazing. For example, this applies to the taboo that prohibits sleeping on the stomach. According to the Quran, this action can make people like the inhabitants of the underworld.
This ban applies to both men and women. Some hadiths claim that the Messenger of Allah appeared to the Prophet when he was sleeping on his stomach, stating that Allah hates if they lie in such a position.
A devout Muslim should sleep with his face turned to the main shrine of Mecca - the Forbidden Mosque. In this case, the gaze should be fixed on the Qibla. This is the direction to this religious building, which can be established with high accuracy from anywhere in the world.
BIdeally, you should sleep in the fetal position on your right side. Allegedly, Muhammad himself slept like this, bending his knees, and placing his right hand under his cheek.
New Year
Another ban is associated with the celebration of the New Year. Recently, more and more followers of Islam have appeared who explain to young people why Muslims should not celebrate this holiday.
The fact is that there is no information about him in the Koran. Therefore, it is believed that its celebration directly contradicts Muslim rules. Many other secular public holidays common in Russia are also banned. This is International Women's Day, Defender of the Fatherland Day, other red dates on the calendar.
Instead, followers of Islam are encouraged to celebrate only those holidays that are mentioned in the Koran. Explaining why Muslims are not allowed to celebrate the New Year, supporters of the faith emphasize that in this case a person becomes an inferior believer.
Of course, this approach is not yet widespread, it exists only among a certain group of adherents of Islam. Out of habit, most people still celebrate the New Year, considering it a family holiday.
Gold and silk
The Qur'an explicitly states that Allah encourages everything that can externally adorn a Muslim. But there are two exceptions. These are things that a woman is allowed to use, but a man is strictly forbidden to use - silk and gold.
It's worth looking into why Muslims shouldn't wear gold jewelry. A companion of Muhammad Ali claimedthat the Prophet raised these two things in his hands, declaring that he declared them permitted only for women.
Moreover, a case is known when Muhammad, noticing a golden ring on the hand of one of his companions, took it off and abruptly threw it aside. Declaring that this is an ember of hell, which in no case can be relied upon.
As a result, in the modern world, things that Muslims are not allowed to include gold pens, cufflinks, watches and any other items containing this metal. The ban on pure silk clothes and gold jewelry is comparable in importance to the taboo on drinking alcohol.
In marriage, it is recommended that a man wear a silver jewelry as a wedding ring.
Alcohol
From what Muslims should not do, the taboo on drinking alcohol is considered one of the most famous and strict in this religion.
Muhammad repeatedly reminded his co-religionists about the complete ban on wine. The Prophet placed a taboo on him, as alcohol becomes the cause of many bad and unpleasant deeds. At the same time, it is necessary to curse not only the person who drinks himself, but also anyone related to this addiction, for example, the seller.
The Koran notes that as a punishment for drinking wine, the guilty were beaten with bare palm branches. It was in wine that the Prophet saw the cause of all evil, so anyone who drinks it faces severe punishment.
Food bans
Followers of Islam have many dietary restrictions. From what Muslims are not allowed, it is well known about the prohibition of pork, as well as the meat of birds and any predatory animals.
The rest of the living creatures are allowed only if it was not killed with a club or current. To kill an animal, which is then allowed to be eaten, you need to slaughter it and pronounce praises to Allah.
At the same time, there is an important caveat in this taboo. It is believed that a person is not guilty and should not be punished if he ate an incorrectly killed animal solely out of his ignorance. In such a situation, he is completely released from liability.
For example, if a non-Muslim serves meat to him, a Muslim should not ask him how the animal was killed.
Female body
Islam is a conservative and patriarchal religion. For example, it is strictly forbidden here to look at the female body, with the exception of the hands and face. That is why many Muslim women prefer such closed outfits.
Exceptions are made for wife, sister, daughter and mother. The followers of Islam are only allowed to look at a woman who is dressed in loose clothing that does not stick to the body, completely covering it.
If a woman is wearing a body-hugging suit, it is forbidden to look at her, even without lust.
The strictest prohibition is associated with the contemplation of women's underwear, if at the same time a man begins to get excited and sinful thoughts appear.
Unclean animals
In Islam, unclean animalsconsidered dogs. Few people know that Muslims should not keep them at home. Any contact with them should be prohibited. It is believed that the dog is able to defile food, clothes and the person himself by his presence alone.
A true believer after such a defilement must necessarily undergo a rite of purification.
Because of this, a dog cannot be bought, but if it is required for a business, such as guarding livestock or hunting, it is still possible to keep it.
At the same time, Sharia allows you to have a cat at home. It is said that the Prophet himself loved these animals. There is a legend about how he once cut off the hem of his dress so as not to disturb a sleeping cat.
But keeping most other pets at home is not recommended. For example, useless rodents (hamsters, chinchillas) that are kept solely for fun.
Usury
If among the Jews the profession of a usurer was very common, then the Koran directly prohibits Muslims from engaging in this trade. Borrowing or lending money at interest is another taboo. It does not matter what the purpose of the loan is or the indicators on which interest is calculated.
It is noteworthy that in such a situation, not only the usurer himself is considered a sinner, but also the person who borrowed on these terms, as well as anyone who was involved in the transaction. For example, a witness drawing up an IOU.
An exception exists in this case too. But only if a person is pushed to take money at interest by hopelessness. In such a situation, the debtor is releasedfrom liability, and all the blame falls on the shoulders of the creditor.
It is worth emphasizing that in the modern world a Muslim can take a loan from a bank only if it is justified by a real need, and not by a desire to improve their own well-being. The amount of the loan should not exceed the amount required to solve the problem. In addition, a person must first make every possible effort to get out of a difficult situation in any other way.
