Halloween is a very ancient holiday, but in our country it is still gaining popularity. This is a very fun and interesting celebration with its own history and traditions that came to us from abroad. The main symbol of this holiday is a pumpkin lamp in the form of a frightening head, the so-called "Jack Lantern".
There is a legend according to which the blacksmith Jack, who twice deceived the devil himself, after his death could not go to heaven or hell, because of which he was forced to wander the earth in the form of a ghost with a lantern in his hands, which is pumpkin with coal inside. Today it is customary to conduct all kinds of fortune-telling on Halloween, and children, dressed in costumes of evil spirits, go from house to house and demand various treats in return for a promise not to scare the owners that night.
Divination options
With an apple, a mirror and a candle (for love)
The essence of this Halloween divination was that the girl, picking up a burning candle andapple, had to go into a dark room with a mirror. Putting a candle in front of a mirror and looking into it, she began to eat an apple. After some time, a silhouette of her future betrothed should have appeared in the reflection. But, as in many other fortune-telling, there is a warning here. If the candle suddenly goes out or falls, you should immediately stop fortune telling, as this means the presence of dark forces in the room.
With three saucers (for love)
For the next Halloween divination, three saucers were placed on the table. Ordinary water was poured into the first, tinted water into the second, and the third remained empty. Blindfolded, the girl approached the table and, listening to her inner voice, chose one of them. A saucer with clean water meant that the betrothed would be a kind and worthy person, with tinted water - a widower. And the empty one testified that fate decided to postpone the girl’s marriage for at least another year.
Halloween divination at the stake (for fate)
This is an ancient but very interesting Scottish divination. At night, a company wishing to tell fortunes gathered and kindled a fire. Each of the participants had to find a stone for themselves, how to remember it. When the fire had already flared up enough, all the fortunetellers laid out stones around the fire. It was very important to remember where and how exactly yours lies. After the fire was extinguished, everyone dispersed to their homes. In the morning they returned to look at their stone. If he moved, it meant an imminent illness or illness, and if a stone andcompletely disappeared - foreshadowed the imminent death of the person who laid it.
Halloween divination on an apple
The simplest, but no less effective prediction. The one who wants to tell fortunes, having made a wish, takes an apple and cuts it in half. If not a single seed is damaged, then the wish will soon come true.
Halloween divination always brings with it a lot of joy and fun - not only will you maybe know your fate or grant a wish, it will be just a wonderful, fun and interesting pastime. So be sure to use a few of them during the celebration!
