Historical background

The Church of the All-Merciful Savior on Novoslobodskaya has survived a period of destruction. Then not only the walls of the church were damaged, but also the buildings located nearby. In 1890, the Sorrowing Monastery was rebuilt. It has become just one small house church, located on the territory of the house of L. V. Golitsyna.

The construction of the Church of the All-Merciful Savior on Novoslobodskaya began according to the project of the famous architect IvanTerentyevich Vladimirov, a former master of Russian architecture, in the 19th century. according to the drawings of the Moscow Construction Department.

After the death of the merchant's wife A. A. Smirnova, her "executor" I. Yefimov had a chance to build the cathedral. This person helped in the implementation of the project with personal funds.

Hard Times

In the 90s of the last century, a Finnish company reconstructed the temple, after which the building acquired:

Cosmetic work has been done to repair the facade, the roof has been covered with copper.

Restorers have found preserved samples of the missing window bars and created new ones. The style of the temple is made in the spirit of the 17th century. This large-scale unplastered cathedral, with red brick walls, plays a significant role in urban planning.

After the events of the past, the building never got a completed bell tower.

The temple has a rectangular shape, with a central square and symmetrical aisles flanking it.

On weekday mornings, the service starts at 7:40. In the evening - at 18.00. Weekend service starts at 8:40 in the morning and at 17:00 in the evening.
