Almost every one of us at least once in his life felt a sense of pity for himself and for his fate. There are always enough reasons for this. Every time your hands just drop from a hopeless situation, every time you give up, you just want to feel sorry for yourself. However, for all its seeming harmlessness, this feeling is one of the main enemies of man.

Self-pity and depression

Professional psychologists believe that such an emotional state can turn into a real addiction. On the one hand, this feeling helps to cope with stress a little, but on the other hand, problems cannot be solved with its help, and the cause that caused stress is only driven deep inside. If this happens often enough, all the conditions arise for the appearance of distress (bad, harmful stress), which is already very difficult to remove on your own, so you have to turn to experts for psychological help.

Self-pity is like a drug. Having once felt some relief (and sometimes even a certain “sweetness”) fromof this feeling, a person may later succumb to the temptation to react in this way to any, even the smallest, troubles. As a result, an addiction is formed that drives a person into a real dead end: self-pity leads to depression, and this state and unresolved problems further increase bad emotions. The circle is closed. In addition to this, depression greatly reduces immunity, which means hello to acute respiratory infections, colds and other ailments!

Feeling of pity and the role of the victim

A person in his life can take one of two positions: the role of the winner or the role of the victim. In the first case, he fully assumes responsibility for all the events in his life, and in the second, he blames others, fate and the prevailing circumstances for everything. Self-pity is just part of the role of the victim. Penetrating deep into the subconscious, this feeling acts like a magnet, literally attracting all sorts of troubles. How can you be happy then? No way! Thought is material, and therefore you need to resolutely fight negative emotions and monitor the purity of your consciousness.

How to beat the feeling of pity

First, try to determine as accurately as possible what exactly causes such negative emotions. Often behind the desire to feel sorry for yourself is hidden anger and pain. They, in turn, stem from resentment and irritation at the seeming injustice. Often we forget that all people are different, everyone perceives the same situation in their own way. What will be great for oneinjustice, for another it will be a mere trifle. If resentment at fate gnaws at you, then remember that everything has its own reason, and in the end everything works out well. Try to think about it at your leisure. Meditation and affirmations are very helpful. You can also remember the positive moments of your life, all the successes and achievements. Each of us has everything to achieve our goals, otherwise we would not have become what we are now. And we deserve much more than just trying on the role of “victim” and waiting for someone to take pity on us. Life is amazing and beautiful, and the victory over your weaknesses will be a great opportunity to feel like a real master of your destiny.
