"Rabbi - ul - avval" is the long-awaited and at the same time the holy month of Mawlid. Muslims all over the planet praise the Great Prophet Muhammad. This month, the holy book for every Muslim is read - the Koran, with family and friends they share stories about life of the Prophet.
As soon as this holy month came into force, every Muslim in the house begins holding celebrations in which the ex altation of the Prophet Muhammad takes place. Now let's study Mawlid, what is it?
What is the purpose of Mawlid
The main goal of Mawlid is to increase the horizons and knowledge about the existence of the Prophet Muhammad. They increase the respect of every believer and true Muslim for him, and as a result, endows with pure love for Allah. Also, reading the mawlids is an expression of infinite gratitude to God, only for the fact that every Muslim is a follower of the Great Prophet and a member of a religious society or ummah. From the article you can find out exactly what Mawlid is.
History of occurrence
Celebration in the name of the Great Prophetcalled mawlid. It is celebrated every year on the 12th day of the month "Rabbi-ul-Awwal" in accordance with the Islamic calendar (Moon). Mawlid has the status of a public holiday in all countries of Islam. Due to the global migration of residents of Muslim countries to Western Europe, this holiday is officially adopted in some countries. For example, Islamic women's organizations in England or Denmark have large gatherings. As is known from history, mawlids were invented by the Fatimid caliphs. They divided them into several types:
Mawlid Muhammad; "Ali"; "Fatima"; "Hasana"; "Hussein"; "Ruling Caliph or Shaitan". So we figured out what mawlid is and how it arose.
Mawlids and the words of God
Many centuries have passed since Prophet Muhammad gave his soul to Allah, but even after his death for several centuries the date of his birth was not considered a holiday. Later, these traditions took root in the Muslim community. It was introduced to the state level in the twelfth century, near modern Syria. At that time, only the Gregorian calendars were used. Of all the holidays of Islam, Mawlid is the youngest and that is why it has many opponents.
Who is "for" the celebration of Mawlid
For the supporters of this delightful holiday, the reason for holding it is just two ultimatums:
- Feast means love and respect for Muhammad, which come from a great number of hadiths: “By the One in Whose Power my soul, none of you will believe untilwill not love me more than he loves his father and his children.”
- This holiday allows you to show respect to Muhammad. In other words, the entire world of Islam rejoices at the birth of Muhammad.
These are the main facts that explain what mawlid is at the source of its meaning as a holiday:
- Over-fasting on Mondays of the month of the Rabbi.
- The Prophet Muhammad was the patron of people with creative talent, so the poets who sang of him in their poems did not remain without his attention.
- In the Islamic faith, thanks to this holiday, modern gatherings of Muslims and the giving of alms have been highly appreciated.
- Mawlid is a fairly free holiday, during which Muslims are allowed to do a lot.
- Mawlid texts can be found today, both in translation into various languages, and in Arabic, Avar, and so on.
Muslims against Mawlid
For opponents of the holiday, it is new, it violates all the canons of the Islamic religion. The main condition "against", they are sure of this, is that in not a single Muslim religious book there is even the slightest mention of this holiday. There are no canons about him and there are no instructions on how the Mawlid should be held.
The sayings of the opponents of Mawlid are confirmed by a hadith in which Aisha says that the Messenger of Allah will say that everything new will be rejected in the Islamic religion. In other words, that everyone who does his own thing without great instructions will receive rejection from the righteousMuslims and the faith itself.
According to the basics of other hadiths, it can also be said that there is a rejection of mawlid and there is confirmation of this: “Here is my teaching for you: fear Allah, who can do everything and is so great! He must be listened to and obeyed, even if a slave will command you. Indeed, one of you who lives (a long life) will see many strife, and therefore you should adhere to my sunnah and the sunnah of the righteous caliphs, led by the true path, in nothing, not deviating from this and completely avoiding innovations, for every innovation is delusion.”
There are also other reasons that opponents of the celebration of Mawlid put forward:
- Mavlid is a similarity of the Christian Nativity. Although Muhammad himself once said: “The one who is likened to non-Muslims is not one of us. Don't be like Judaism and Christianity. Jews greet each other by making a sign with their fingers, while people of the Christian faith make a sign with a brush.”
- In one place there are men and women alien to each other, which is not permissible according to Islamic faith.
- Music is banned by many Muslim theologians.
- Since the celebration of Mawlid lasts until late in the evening or almost until night, many Muslims skip the time of the morning prayer.
- Most stories about Muhammad are not true or exaggerated.
- The words of the prophet himself: “There is no need to ex alt me, as they did in Christianity with Isa ibn Maryam, I am just a slave of Allah. So say: servant of Allah and His Messenger.”
Modern traditionsMawlid celebrations with children
Mawlid is a holiday especially loved by little Muslims. For their fun, many interesting and fun competitions, concerts and master classes are held. Also, the kids memorize poems about the Prophet Muhammad and tell them to adults, and they, in turn, reward the kids with sweets.
Muslim girls are given sugar candy in the form of a little girl with a fan in her hands, which are hidden behind. This figurine is called "The Bride of the Prophet." The boys are given a lollipop in the form of a warrior with a saber in his hands over his head.
What else is celebrating
Mawlid can be called a double holiday. During it, not only the birth of the Prophet Muhammad is celebrated, but also his presentation before Allah. There is a fact that Muhammad himself honored his date of birth and thanked God for giving him the opportunity to talk about the truest faith in the whole world.
What is acceptable when celebrating
When celebrating this Muslim holiday, not only mawlids are read, but also nasheeds. The latter are the chants of Muslims, which are sung only in a religious way and exclusively by male and children's voices. Mawlid in Arabic sounds beautiful and festive.
In our time, nasheeds are a separate art form and instruments such as tambourine and duff are taken for musical accompaniment. Mawlids and nasheeds in the Avar language are especially popular. But again, back totheologians of the Islamic religion, they oppose any music and chants on the holiday.
Mawlid is a rather young holiday from the Islamic world. But it brings joy to both children and adults. Allows the Muslim people to unite and make acquaintances. Beauty and melody, faith and love for the Prophet Muhammad. Everything here is saturated with just that and there are no hints of aggression and hatred.
Reading mawlid in the Avar language has gained particular popularity in our time. It's just amazing, but even in Western Europe, many of the Muslims living there prefer this version of the songs.
