A person who is different from society, commits acts that are contrary to moral or legal norms, is defined as the owner of deviant behavior. It differs from others in the rejection of social norms, aggression, the ability to act unreasonably, contrary to human nature. Deviant behavior is the inability to control one's actions, to control one's mental state. In particular, these symptoms are manifested under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Such people immediately stand out from society by disobedience and freethinking. Disobedience is one of the main traits of this person.
Deviant behavior confirms this, a person does not fit into any framework and is not even able to adapt to the surrounding society. His behavior can even be dangerous. The concept of deviant behavior is deciphered in the narrow and broad senses. In a narrow sense, these are people who differ from the generally accepted norms of behavior, but do not pose a danger to society. And in a broad sense, human behavior threatens others and entails criminal liability. Such peoplecommit criminal acts, and in psychology the behavior of such individuals is usually called delinquent.
Forms of deviant behavior:
- alcoholism;
- addiction;
- suicide;
- crime;
- homosexuality;
- prostitution;
- mental disorders.
Among them, pronounced negative forms are: drug addiction, crime, alcoholism, suicide. F. Pataki defines the features characteristic of people who are characterized by deviant behavior. This is:
- aggressiveness;
- conflicts in the family and society;
- unwillingness to learn;
- low level of intelligence;
- associative type of behavior.
Diagnosis and prevention of deviant behavior
Based on the statistical data of sociologists, we can say that 30% of society have different forms of deviant behavior. Moreover, these 30%, in turn, are divided into those that pose a danger to humanity, and those that are simply distinguished by unusual behavior. But they do not pose a threat, on the contrary, everyone admires their behavior, believing that these people, thanks to their originality, will be able to achieve great heights in life.
We completely forgot about the other 70%, which are nothing special. They are called average residents, and some philosophers - the gray mass. The causes of deviant behavior should be looked for, first of all, in childhood, and also pay attention tothe patient's position in the family. Prevention, carried out in time, will help protect a person from these deviations from the norms of behavior. Diagnosis of deviant behavior is not carried out without taking into account the biological data of a person. Caesar Lombroso argues that the reasons for such deviations must be sought in the physique of the individual. Later, this theory was rejected, and psychologists revealed that the deviant behavior manifested is a consequence of a genetic predisposition. That is, such a feature is inherited, but nevertheless it was not possible to completely displace the biological theory. Some biological abnormalities predispose to the development of deviant behavior.
