We perceive people differently. And at first glance it is impossible to determine the character of a person, especially if he is changeable. Each individual is unique, has his own temper. Today we will talk about the cycloid personality type, labile and much more.

About accentuations first

Classifications of character accentuations were presented by A. E. Lichko and K. Leonhard. The typology of the first consisted of 11 personality types, each of which has specific manifestations observed in adolescence. He also singled out species:

  • Explicit accentuation. This is when a person's character traits are expressed throughout life.
  • And hidden. Sharp characteristics manifest themselves in difficult conditions and situations.

Leonhard distinguished 12 species, some of them coincide with Lichko's classification. Divided into the following groups:

  • Emotionality.
  • Character.
  • Personal level.

He studied the typology of adult characters.

Causes of accentuations

Accentuated temper is formed and develops underthe influence of many factors. These include a lack of communication with peers and parents. The main reason is heredity. The appearance of sharp character traits of a child is influenced by the environment (family and friends), the wrong parenting style (excessive guardianship or lack of attention, love and care). All this leads to a lack of communication. Low self-esteem, dissatisfaction with needs, physical disabilities and psychological illness can also lead to accentuation. Now let's start discussing the cycloid personality type.

Find out who cyclothymics are

These are people whose mood changes very often, regardless of external factors. The cycloid personality type is an accentuation of character, in which the emotional state of a person changes dramatically and for no reason. Suddenly, euphoria can be replaced by sadness. Moreover, the cyclothymic itself does not know why this is happening. Let's talk about the cycloid type of accentuation.

Character traits

Already in early childhood, such people can be recognized by their inherent hyperthymia. They are active, too independent, tend to be leaders, hardworking, benevolent, friendly, which captivates the interlocutor from the first minute of communication. Very talkative, but at the same time overly charming. Thanks to emotionality and gestures, even the simplest story can be presented colorfully and juicy, adding a humorous twist.

Easily adapt to a new circle, so they easily socialize. Quickly find a common language with others. But there are some downsides, of course:

  • Instability of character.
  • Inconstancy. Often change hobbies, interests.
  • Promiscuousness, for example, in choosing friends, which is why they get into bad company.

To understand the state of mind is difficult even for the owners of the cycloid type, not like those around them.

Development of cyclothymics

It is almost impossible to predict or influence the development of accentuation of the character of a cycloid personality type in early childhood. Behavior and emotionality, although they may need to be adjusted, do not go beyond the boundaries of generally accepted norms and rules in society. The individual can independently control and correct them.

The cycloid personality type, like others, is formed and developed under the influence of many external factors, such as:

  • Genetic predisposition.
  • Education and others.
Labile personality type

Cyclothymics begin to show their character already in childhood, while in adolescence it becomes more pronounced. This is a quick change in mood, for example from depression to euphoria.

More on adolescence

It is during this period that the first major fragment of low mood occurs in children. In girls, for example, this phenomenon may coincide with the onset of menstruation. Irritability appears, interest in studying, games and communication with peers disappears, fatigue sets in.

During a downturn in mood, teenagers should not be questioned, as they can answer rudely. They themselves do notlike, because they were completely different before and found a common language with their parents.

Reason for development

Not clearly defined, but there are a number of factors that can aggravate the development of a cycloid personality type and lead to psychological pathologies. Consider them:

  • These are psychological deviations of relatives.
  • Brain damage (trauma) and infections accompanied by fever and intoxication.
  • Use of toxic substances.

And, of course, psychological trauma. This is a dangerous moment when a psychological traumatic situation or circumstance coincides with the phase of bad mood. This only makes the dejection worse, which can lead to a suicide attempt.

Let's talk about the labile-cycloid personality type

In adolescence, two types of accentuation can be observed:

  1. Typical.
  2. And labile cycloids.

Typical, as a rule, in childhood are no different from ordinary children, rather they even resemble hyperthyms. In adolescence, an initial subdepressive phase occurs. There is a tendency to apathy and irritability. Feeling lethargic and weak. During this period, adolescents are especially vulnerable, criticism from parents and others, failures can lead to deep depression, psychological trauma and even suicidal attempts. Typical cycloids have phases that last 2 to 3 weeks.

In labile cycloids, the phases are much shorter - up to several days. Moreover, during the periodtheir mood decline is not marked by lethargy, loss of strength and dissatisfaction, but rather a slight sadness. And unlike the labile type, because of minor events, the mood does not change dramatically.

Teenage behavioral reactions of both types are moderately expressed. There is instability in hobbies. Since self-esteem is formed gradually, due to lack of experience, it is still inaccurate.

Labile personality type

In childhood, such individuals, as a rule, do not stand out from others. Only a few have neurotic reactions. The main feature is the extreme variability of the emotional state. If the mood changes extremely abruptly, and the reason for this is a very insignificant reason, the formation of a labile personality type is obvious. At the same time, the emotional state will be accompanied by deep feelings, poor appetite and sleep, a desire to be alone or, conversely, rush into a noisy company, and so on.

Hyperthymic personality type
Hyperthymic personality type

Representatives of this type of personality are characterized by sensuality, true friendship. They are capable of sincere affection for their loved ones, if the latter reciprocate (love and care), even despite often repeated petty quarrels.

Labile teenagers like praise, various signs of attention, encouragement. But they endure censure, criticism, condemnation hard, deeply worried, which leads to despondency. Adolescents of this type of personality are familiar with the peculiarities of their character, they know that they belong to “mood people”, from the latter everything anddepends. Invite others to accept them for who they are.

Let's talk about the hyperthymic type

The hyperthymic type of accentuation is characterized by an active life position, elevated mood, and a thirst for communication. From childhood, hyperthyms are independent, easily adapting to a new environment. Very sociable, even talkative, mischievous, prone to pranks and hooliganism. They strive for leadership, tireless, able to make a favorable impression on others. They do not like loneliness and never complete large-scale cases.

Can't stand monotony, monotonous work, idleness. Easily change hobbies, hobbies, love risk. Failures can negatively affect hyperthyms, but not for long. They are easily restored and return to their usual emotional state. They can easily apologize.

Hyperthymno-cycloid type can occur only in childhood, when superficial activity, sociability and high spirits are observed. In their lives, both stunning ups and downs are possible. But they always find a way out of the situation, although they are unreliable in the partnership business.

So, in our article we learned about the cycloid personality type, character traits and behavior, and also considered the labile and hyperthymic types.
