The Church of St. Innocent in Beskudnikovo is a small young church located in the Northern District of Moscow. Despite the fact that construction work has not been finally completed, the temple lives a full-fledged Orthodox life and has a large parish.

History

In 1996, in the Moscow microdistrict of Beskudnikovo, there was an urgent need to build a church for the religious needs of the local Orthodox population. This happened because the religiously minded residents of the area were forced to travel to temples located far away. In addition, due to the constant influx of new parishioners, neighboring churches were no longer able to accommodate everyone who wanted to pray.

In 1997, work began on the construction of the church of St. Innocent of Moscow in Beskudnikovo. The project was based on drawings of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Zvenigorod. The architects were A. Bormotov and V. Yakubeni.

But the actively started construction of the building was suspended after the completion of the first phase of construction due to lack offurther funding. Only by 2000, thanks to donations, was it possible to continue the further construction of the Church of St. Innocent in Beskudnikovo according to the schedule outlined earlier.

First prayers

In autumn, the first service was held on the newly created ramp of the temple. In the winter of 2003, a solemn installation of a gilded cross on the dome of the temple took place. This significant event helped dispel the doubts of many residents of Beskudnikov, because there were rumors around the area that a sectarian structure was being built on this site.

Since the fall of 2004, windows and doors have been installed in the temple. Despite the fact that the church building was not heated, parishioners began to gather for the first services. At first, prayers were held only on Sundays and holidays, but gradually, despite the cold, dampness and bare concrete walls, the number of parishioners began to increase, and by the spring of 2005 it was more than 100 people.

In 2006, a small consecration of the church of St. Innocent in Beskudnikovo took place. Long before the start of the service, a large number of parishioners reached out to the temple.

After the blessing of water and consecration, the altar was solemnly brought into the temple building, and the first Divine Liturgy in the history of the church took place, which ended with a large procession around the temple.

Parish life

Since 2007, at the Church of St. Innocent in Beskudnikovo, a children's Sunday school has been operating for children from 5 to 15 years old. Also onOn Sundays, educational classes are held for the youngest parishioners aged 2 to 5 years, which take place in the form of a game.

In 2013, the Hard work club was created, which included all parishioners who wish to provide all possible assistance in cleaning and beautifying the church.

Also, Sunday school classes for adults are held in the assembly hall of the temple. Since 2014, the church has had a family sobriety club that helps people suffering from alcoholism and drug addiction overcome their addictions.

The youth movement also conducts its work in the parish. At the meetings, preparations are made for festive events, and youth problems are discussed. One of the directions of movement is to help small rural parishes.

The temple has a children's choir, which is divided into 3 age groups. Here you can learn basic musical skills and church singing. The church holds classes and a theater group for children and adults. A hand-to-hand combat section has also been opened.

The parish carries out a lot of social work, including - helping the poor and large families, cooperation with social organizations of the city, spiritual support for prisoners.

The clergy of the temple are working on organizing pilgrimage trips to the shrines of Russia and neighboring countries.

The temple is open daily from 7:00 to 19:00.

On weekdays Divine servicesheld:

• 17:00 - evening service.

Sundays and public holidays:

• 7:00 - early service.
• 10:00 - late liturgy.
• 17:00 - Vigil.

Other requirements are carried out as needed.
