This happened after the split of the Orthodox Church into the Old Believers and the New. Representatives of both directions proved their case in books and in every possible way reviled opponents. The artist, as an inquisitive and deeply religious person, wanted to understand how right both sides were. As a result, he read so many books that he lost his mind from the stress.

Miraculous image

How does the Mind Up icon relate to this? Directly! In rare moments of enlightenment, the artist prayed with tears and groans to the Mother of God to restore his mind, to help him to know the truth. And one day Mary appeared to him and ordered him to draw her in the form in which the painter sees her.

With zeal and perseverance, he set to work. But, as the cloudiness came over him often, he forgot the vision. And again he diligently stood idle in prayers and bows. The Mother of God came to him again, guided him. And so it was until the icon "Addition of the Mind" was not finished. The artist was already praying before her. And the mind returned to him, even brighter and sharper than before. And the icon itself is now in the city of Rybinsk, in the Transfiguration Cathedral.
