Psychologists, philosophers and priests are in solidarity with respect to grievances. You need to learn to forgive people in order to maintain your inner peace and harmony. The Gospel teaches us not to judge and not to get angry, even those who are in a quarrel with their neighbor are not allowed to take communion. Jesus Christ in the Sermon on the Mount explained in detail what revenge is fraught with. Carrying out plans for retribution, a person loses peace, longs to restore justice, a fog of anger curls in the heart in black clubs, all household chores fade into the background.
Not letting go of the feeling of resentment, not forgiving the enemy, the person, as it were, agrees with the role of the victim, with the injustice that the enemy inflicted. On the contrary, reading prayers for resentment, cleansing your heart, becomes a winner, rises above the situation.
Why forgive?
There is a paradox in the Word of God:
Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who mistreat you (Luke 6:27-28)
The hardest commandment islove enemies. It is not clear why, why should we forgive? Revenge is unacceptable, if only because, responding with evil to an insult, we become like the offender, sinking to his level. But what about injustice?
The wonderful writer Vasily Shukshin in his story perfectly reflected the feelings of the undeservedly offended. A certain Sashka faced the rudeness of a saleswoman in a store, he was slandered in front of his little daughter. Unable to endure the insult, the hero grabbed the hammer, intending to take revenge. The murder did not happen only by a happy coincidence. Because of a couple of hurtful words, a person in a fit of anger is ready to destroy lives: his own, the victim, children and relatives of both families.
It would seem, what do we care about idle talk? If they gossip about us and compose fables, you can laugh at these people, because we are not to blame. But no - anger rises in the soul as a wave, a person feels the desire to prove that people are wrong. Often in a radical way. That is why it is so important to learn to forgive so as not to create more cruelty.
If you can't calm down and forgive, God will help. There are several prayers for resentment:
Prayer to the Savior
My Savior, teach me to forgive from the bottom of my heart everyone who offended me in any way. I know that I cannot stand before You with the feelings of enmity that lurk in my soul. My heart has hardened! There is no love in me! Help me, Lord! I beg You, teach me to forgive those who offend me, as You Yourself, my God, on the Cross forgave Your enemies!
If you do not hold evil, and the attacks do not stop, you need to ask for softening of evil hearts in front of the icon of the Virgin.
Prayer for forgiveness of insults
Soften our evil hearts, Mother of God, and repel the attacks of those who hate us, and resolve all our spiritual sorrows, for, looking at Your holy image, with Your compassion and mercy for us, we heartily lament and kiss your wounds, about the arrows ours, who torment you, we are horrified. Do not let us, Merciful Mother, perish in our hardness of heart or from the hardness of our neighbors, for You are truly the softener of evil hearts.
We must remember that God is love. Therefore, anyone who turns to him with hope will definitely get what they want.
