The miracle performed by the Archangel Michael

On Tsarskaya (Ivanovskaya) Square of the Moscow Kremlin in the old days there was a monastery named after the feast of the Miracle of St. Michael the Archangel in Khonekh. More precisely, the cathedral church on the territory of the monastery was dedicated to this event.

This is how the said Miracle happened. Through the prayer of Saint Archipus, who held services in one of the first Christian churches in Phrygia (in the west of Asia Minor), the Archangel Michael appeared and did not allow the pagans to destroy the church. They areconnected the waters of two rivers and sent to the temple. The archangel struck with a rod and into the formed cleft in the mountain ordered a seething stream to flow. This place was called Hony ("cleft", "hole").

Chudov Monastery

The monastery dedicated to the Miracle was founded by Metropolitan Alexy in 1365. On the site of the monastery, they say, there was the Khan's court, and during the time of the Tatar-Mongol yoke - stables.

The Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Russia received this territory as a gift from the mother of Khan Dzhanibek Taidula. The fact is that the blind woman asked to call Alexy to the Horde. Through his prayers, Taidula received her sight. In gratitude, the site in the Kremlin was given to St. Alexis.

The first church was built of wood in 1358, later it was replaced with stone.

In the Miracle Monastery, one prayer was written, right on the porch. This is an appeal to the Archangel Michael. Someone wrote that this prayer is ancient. According to some reports, it was applied in 1906 to the porch of the monastery, named after the Miracle performed by the Archangel Michael in Khonekh. This is a very powerful prayer.

According to legend, twice a year (September 19 - Miracle in Khonekh, November 21 - the day of the memory of the Archangel) Michael approaches the fiery valley. At the same time, the fire in the abyss goes out, and all the creatures that torment the souls of people disappear. The archangel lowers his wing into the abyss, and on it the dead come out of hell. Then they are washed and the Lord allows them to go to heaven.
