Everyone strives for something in their life. Someone dreams, someone sets goals and goals. This is the claim, just in a different terminology. So, claims are the desire to get from life what a person considers possible and worthy of his personality. This is where the most “interesting” begins: why do some people have an overestimated level of claims, while others have an underestimated one? Why do some people have reasonable expectations and others unrealistic? And who can judge that they are?
Different levels
So, claims are the inner right of a person to receive certain life benefits. It can be about career success, travel, a profitable marriage, or academic performance at school, college or in a city circle. Regardless of this, there are different levels of claims. A high level of claims, oddly enough, is characteristic of people with inadequateself-esteem, which affects the level of claims. It is still unclear, however, whether the quality of claims affects self-esteem or self-esteem affects claims, but the existence of a connection between these phenomena is indisputable.
Self-esteem and aspirations
Psychologists note that people with high or low self-esteem, paradoxically, can have both a high level of aspirations and a low one. When it comes to a high level, it means that a person is not able to adequately assess his own strengths and capabilities to achieve what he wants. If we are talking about a low level of claims, then a person, due to low self-esteem, and, therefore, disbelief in his own strength, deliberately sets himself insignificant goals and objectives.
Determining the level of claims
Successful, active and purposeful individuals have neither high nor low levels of ambition. They have real claims that sooner or later come true. Unlike dreamers or those who see the world "in rose-colored glasses", these people set themselves tasks, the fulfillment of which is fully consistent with their personal qualities. American psychologists have found that they have a high level of motivation that pushes them to achieve their aspirations.
Those who have unrealistically high aspirations in life tend to have a low level of motivation, unable to realize their ambitions.
Example of inadequately inflated claims
A fairly common example when a girl fromThe province thinks it deserves to be the husband of the Prince of England. At the same time, she does not even know his native language, has no education, upbringing, and, worst of all, does not even strive for this. She is just sure that she deserves it just like that. Here is an example when individual claims are a discrepancy between the real qualities of a person and her aspirations.
Can you determine your level of aspiration?
This is done with the help of an experienced psychologist or special tests. Sometimes such an analysis is necessary if it is not possible to achieve some goals in life, and it clearly does not add up itself. Perhaps, in this case, the level of claims does not coincide with the level of personal characteristics. Then you need to either reduce claims, or work on your individual qualities of character. Changing your personality to fit your aspirations is a difficult, long journey, not for everyone.
