To assess well-being, activity and mood, a special questionnaire was developed. It was created by employees of the First Moscow Medical Institute. I. M. Sechenov. More specifically, in 1973 the SAN questionnaire was developed by V. A. Doskin, N. A. Lavrent’eva, V. B. Sharay, M. P. Miroshnikov. The features of this testing are described in the article.
How the questionnaire is used
The test is in demand to assess the mental state. At the same time, it reflects the well-being of not only patients of medical institutions, but also he althy people. The study is aimed at determining biological rhythms. They are represented by periodically recurring changes in the features, strength of phenomena and processes of a biological nature. This also applies to individual characteristics that reflect psychophysiological functions.
Passing the test consists in the correlation of the state with psychological signs. The SAN questionnaire is very easy to use. It is presented as a scaleindices (3 2 1 0 1 2 3). The subject is offered 30 pairs of words, which have the opposite meaning. The task is to choose and circle 1 number on each scale. The selected value should most accurately reflect the state of the person as it is at the time of the test.
Questionnaire components
Using the form, you can analyze your state of he alth at the present time. The bottom line is that the internal state is always formed from several characteristics.
The SUN Questionnaire reveals the following features:
- He alth, consisting of strength, fatigue and he alth.
- Activity - from mobility, the speed of the flow of functions.
- Mood, made up of the characteristics of an emotional state.
It is these characteristics that show how the respondent feels at a given moment in time. Thanks to testing, the general state of he alth, the degree of mobility, as well as the emotional background becomes clear.
Test structure
The SAN questionnaire is made up of 30 pairs of opposite qualities that characterize well-being. Answers to them help to understand yourself, displaying the degree of manifestation of each characteristic at a given time. When passing the test, you need to describe your condition as accurately as possible. To do this, in each of the above pairs, you need to choose a feature with which you can display the state at a given time. To this end, you should choose a number that most closely matches the sensations.at this point in time.
Each of the scales has an average score of 4. This is how the SUN questionnaire works. Well-being, activity, mood are defined as favorable when the score exceeds 4 points. But if the value is smaller, then it is impossible to judge a good attitude towards what is happening at that moment in time. For normal condition scores, a range of 5.0-5.5 points is characteristic.
Feeling good
One of the features to be analyzed is how the individual feels. It is a collection of subjective sensations. Thus, the features of physiological and psychological comfort are revealed. The direction of feelings and thoughts is also determined by trying the SUN questionnaire in action.
Interpretation of the results indicates that well-being is represented by some generalizing characteristic. It can be cheerfulness, malaise and others. These emotions can cause discomfort in different parts of the body.
Activity
Activity is a common characteristic of living beings. At the same time, its own dynamics is to transform or maintain a vital relationship with external stimuli. This is accompanied by a certain separation. It is represented by activities:
- Chemical.
- Activity of consciousness.
- Physical, nervous, mental activity.
- Groups.
- Personalities.
- Societies.
Activity is directly related to how events are predicted. This concerns the environment itself, as well as the position of a living organism in it.
Besides, it is the sphere of manifestation of temperament. It is determined by the breadth of interaction between man and the environment (social and physical). This parameter determines the state of he alth that meets the characteristics:
- Inertia.
- Passivity.
- Initiativity.
- Calm.
- Swiftness.
- Activity.
Mood
This quality is represented by long-term states, which are characterized by stability. This is how the SAN questionnaire is arranged. Interpretation involves evaluating the emotional background that characterizes a depressed or elated mood. The emotional background is a reaction to the consequences of certain events. This also applies to their significance in relation to general expectations, life plans and interests.
It is important to clearly identify the state. It can be boredom or delight, joy. Unlike sensations, mood is directed towards one or the other object. It is caused by some reason, a reason. At the same time, the presence of an emotional response to any impact is important.
How data is processed
The results of the SUN questionnaire are easy to calculate. Index 3 should be chosen for unsatisfactory he alth, the lowest activity and a very bad mood. Hecorresponds to 1 point.
Followed by index 2, which corresponds to the same number of points. And 1 is taken as 3 points and so on. The poles of the scale are constantly changing. Index 3 on the opposite side becomes equal to 7 points. Positive states tend to have high values, while negative states have the lowest values. Based on the given scores, the arithmetic mean should be calculated. This should be done as a whole, as well as separately, depending on activity, mood and well-being.
This test is very effective and simple. It is especially convenient to pass it online, each time filling in a blank field. Although you can use a printout and a pen to identify the features of your well-being. It can be carried out by a professional or for the purpose of satisfying a personal interest.
