Probably every fan of the saga of the young wizard Harry Potter at least once tried to determine his Patronus. Before the release of the eighth and final part of the saga, an official Patronus test appeared on the pottermore website. Now everyone can go through it and find out who will protect it from the Dementors. But not everyone remembers the true definition of a patronus. So what is it?

Patronus concept

So, this is a magical essence that serves to protect against such dark creatures as dementors and smerkuts. Called by the spell "expecto patronum", during the pronunciation of which you need to resurrect your happiest memories in your memory. For example, Harry remembered his parents, but was not sure of the authenticity of these memories.

Contrary to popular belief, a Patronus does not always turn into an animal - it can be just a silvery cloud that does not have a clear shape. The spell is quite complex, so only a truly strong and powerful wizard can summon a Patronus.

Sometimes the Patronus could change, for example,due to bereavement, love, severe trials. The most famous entities in the world of Harry Potter are: deer (Harry himself and his father James), doe (Lily Potter and Severus Snape).

Dark wizards are unable to use this spell. For example, among Death Eaters, only Severus Snape could summon a Patronus.

Test "What is your Patronus?"

According to the Potterians, the Patronus is something that is an integral part of the personality, a kind of secret "I" that awakens in a moment of danger. The creators of the test, apparently, took this into account: one of the main conditions is a quick answer to the question, there is almost no time to think about the answer.

So, to find out what patronus you have, first of all, you need to register on the pottermore website. After that, in the site menu, select the "Find out your Patronus" section. During the test, you will be shown an animation of the forbidden forest. You will be prompted to remember the happiest moments of your life, and as you travel through the forest, you will be asked to choose from several words the most preferable ("sweet / s alty", "over/under/around", "freedom/safety" and so on). Answer quickly, without hesitation. When you answer all the questions, you will see an animated version of your Patronus.

It can be absolutely any creature: the list of magical entities includes owls, hippogriffs, dolphins and many others.
