Great Allah in his boundless mercy sent down to people the Holy Quran, filled with enduring knowledge, tearing more and more depth of wisdom before those who read this holy book. Those who delve into it constantly find revelations or support for themselves in all life situations. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was chosen by Allah in order to write down this book, which contains vital knowledge about the Almighty and about the path to Paradise. The Qur'an consists of separate chapters, suras, each of which is a pearl of wisdom. Constantly delving into sacred words, the Prophet once said:

I have the same desire and passion for prayer that you have for food, drink and intimacy.

Where did the opinion about the importance of short suras for prayer come from

Often among believers there is an opinion that every orthodox Muslim should know by heart all the suras following the "Elephant" (al Fil). They are small in size and are often referred to as short suras forprayer. This is a non-canonical requirement, not entirely consistent with Islam. It is better for a Muslim to know as many passages from the Quran as possible, regardless of their size, because the Prophet Muhammad himself (peace and blessings be upon him), having special reverence for the guiding Word of Allah, did not single out any specific suras or verses for prayer, often read and long suras such as Al Bakara (The Cow). But at the same time, it cannot be said that he insisted on a long prayer, on reading long suras. In the hadiths, a story has been preserved that tells us about the wrath of the righteous Prophet. The reason for such anger was just a long prayer. However, this story refers, rather, to the imams, however, one should not forget that every orthodox believer illustrates the professed faith with his life. If people see that a person is in one prayer for too long, this can alienate from Islam. This is what the Messenger of Allah was guided by when he said in anger:

Oh people! There are those among you who push [people away from religion]. If any of you becomes an imam, then let him pray for a short time, for behind him are the weak, the elderly and the needy.

As for the rules for prayer, here Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) left a special instruction on how important it is to keep the times for prayer, not tying them to a specific hour, but following the position of the sun. Also, special rules have been allocated for prayer, which relate to the procedure for performing an action during prayer.

General rules for reading the sura

When the dawn of a new day began, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed a prayer, read short surahs of the Koran for prayer and small verses. Surahs, which require more time to read, are recommended to be read when all important matters are behind, when the Muslim is at home, at rest. New converts are advised to start prayer by reading short suras, for example, al Asr, al Qusar, al Falyak.

It is also worth remembering that when reading short surahs for prayer in transcription, it is impossible to see the correct pronunciation of Arabic words, just like in any other language, there are sounds here that have no analogues in the Russian alphabet.

During the morning farj prayer, the Prophet Muhammad began his day by reading al Kaf, al Bakar, on the second rak'ah, the Blessed One recited at Tur, al Ikhlas. The Friday prayer of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of God be upon him) was celebrated by reading sur as Sajda and al Insan.

The most common short suras

In general, the least that a devout Muslim can limit himself to is reading Sura al Fatiha. Prayer will be valid if a person confines himself to it. But it will not be superfluous to read something else from the Koran. It will be sufficient to read any verse with reverence, but the Imams believe that it will be better if it is not short.

Zuhr (noon prayer). This prayer is the longest of the obligatory daily prayers. Here it will be possible to read the sura al-Fatiha, then another sura or several verses are pronounced, but not less than threeverses following in a row. It would be appropriate to read Surah An Nasr.

Features of the evening prayer

The fourth prayer is evening, Maghrib. As it is written in the Hadith from Ayyub, the Messenger of the Almighty (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Good and prosperity will not leave my followers until they begin to leave the evening prayer until the stars appear."

During the evening prayer after reading al Fatih, you can read sura al Bayyyin.

The last prayer is Isha, which is performed after the glow from the sun has disappeared in the west. The time for Ish lasts until the first signs of dawn.

Nothing is more pleasing to Allah than prayer, which is the key to Paradise. In addition to the short suras already mentioned for prayer, it is appropriate to memorize the following, but not limited to them: Sura al Ikhlas, Tahiyat, Salawat, 201 verses of sura al Bakar.

The Importance of Prayer

It is worth using common short surahs for prayer with translation and transcription, this will allow you to better understand the meaning of prayer and also improve your knowledge of the Arabic language in which the Holy Quran is written.

In his daily life, every true Muslim should try to become like the Messenger of Allah. Therefore, do not forget the important words of the Prophet (peace and blessings of the Lord be upon him):

Namaz is the pillar of religion. The religion of the one who abandons prayer will collapse.
