The Russian Empire was rich in cathedrals and temples, but after the revolution they were closed and destroyed, and priests were shot. Fortunately, that time is in the past, now the churches are open again.
There are temples in every city, but not just one. There are more than twenty churches in Lipetsk. We will talk about the three largest of them.
Christ Nativity Cathedral
We will not be mistaken in calling it the main temple and architectural decoration of the city. The temple is located on a hill, it can be seen from almost all corners of Lipetsk. The history of the cathedral is not simple. Its construction began in the 18th century and ended at the beginning of the 19th century. For a whole century the cathedral flourished - it was the richest and largest parish, and it was impossible to look away from the decoration of the temple. At the beginning of the 20th century, electricity and running water were installed in it - the cathedral competently disposed of donations.
But the revolution with godless power did not spare him. Although, we must pay tribute to the believers - the parishioners defended the temple and were able to hold out until 1931. Truth, before that, all the temple goods were stolen by the communists "in favor of the starving." When there was nothing to take, they decided to close the cathedral.
He stood without bells and crosses until the 90s, gradually collapsing. The believers received the Cathedral of Christ the Nativity in such a way that, it would seem, it was not subject to restoration. 13 years have passed, and by 2003 the temple was completely restored from ruins.
Now this building is one of the most beautiful churches in Lipetsk, it is regularly visited by tourists. The Cathedral of Christ the Nativity is located at the address: Cathedral Square, house 4.

Construction began in 2002, but finishing work is still ongoing, and the degree of completion of the temple is estimated at 80%. It would seem that there is something to complete. The church is small, but so beautiful from the outside that it is impossible to convey in words. The main color of the walls is yellow, the domes are golden, and the roof is dark green.

The history of the temple begins in the 19th century when it was built. The whole century, as you know, people went to church - it was a heyday, until the 20th century came. The parishioners are real heroes, they defended their temple to the last. The forces lasted only until 1939, then the church was closed, however, not for long - in 1946 the doors of the temple opened again. Until now, the ringing of bells calls the pious people to the service.
