Demonology has turned from a rather extensive occult science into a powerful segment of a commercially attractive idea, although the idea itself is not new - at all times people have found the dark side attractive, looking for allies in demons. Regardless of the fact itself, whether demons really exist or it is just a mystical belief, one cannot deny their presence in the general information space. People want to know more about demons, they are interested in them almost as actively as screen stars or popular musicians. And if the name of Lucifer is on everyone's lips, then the demon Abbadon has gained wide popularity relatively recently. Where did he come from, what does he do and in what forms does he appear before people?
The Destroyer from Hell: Demon Abbadon
Usually, Jewish theology, which gradually migrated to Christianity, is taken as the primary source. However, there are verytransparent parallels with the Greek pantheon of gods. Despite the differences in spelling (in different sources - Apollo and Apollyon), we are talking about the same deity. A phenomenon typical of ancient beliefs is the dark side of a light deity. The sparkling Apollo nevertheless sent pestilence and an ulcer on enemies, fought, killed and destroyed. Similar metamorphoses can be traced in Hindu mythology - the creative Uma (Shakti) in its dark version appears as a terrible Kali, a destroyer and a killer.
In Christian theology, the demon Abbadon is one of the princes of Hell, ruling over the Furies. This is the ruler of the Seventh Circle, unleashing wars, destroying and destroying all life. It is he who is assigned an important role in Armageddon - Abaddon will lead hordes of predatory locusts, which are described in revelations as a flock of terrible monsters.
Expressive artistic image
For any good character, you need a powerful and charismatic antagonist who will allow you to turn the plot in the right direction. It is the demon Abbadon, as the quintessence of extermination and destruction, that is best suited for this purpose. Many believe that even Lucifer loses in this, because his interests are more extensive, sinfulness has too many facets, from perjury to gambling, so Hell has several conditional "subdivisions". Each circle of Hell is ruled by a separate higher demon, and against their background Abaddon stands out as pure and inevitable evil, without offshoots. Complete destruction has no halftones and compromises, this makes the image of Abaddon even moreintimidating and expressive.
Fame in the modern world
Computer games, fiction and poetry, musical art and, finally, cinema - one of the most popular images of evil, which is used to create an expressive artistic effect, is precisely the demon Abbadon. Photos or other images that capture the image of this demonic entity are strikingly different from each other. In ancient engravings, he is depicted as a classic devil - with horns, membranous wings - or as a monstrous skeleton covered with pieces of rotting flesh. In his hand, Abaddon always holds a murder weapon - a sword, a spear or arrows.
In computer games, the appearance depends on the imagination of the developers, it can be a chthonic monster like the biblical locust of Armageddon, with teeth, claws and breathing fire, or some kind of humanized incarnation of the instruments of destruction. Cinema is a little more elegant in this sense.
Supernatural Series
Abaddon's popularization was greatly facilitated by the television series Supernatural, where he appears as a knight of Hell who wished to seize power after Lucifer's imprisonment. Contrary to the contradictory images that have developed in culture, where he appeared both as a monster and as a pale, expressionless young man in black glasses (Bulgakov, The Master and Margarita), the creators of the series decided to play in contrast, and here a very feminine demon Abbadon appears. "Supernatural" is generally famous for its unconventional approach to visualization.powerful beings. The red-haired beauty proved to be quite convincing as the Hell Knight.
Beautiful appearance of Abaddon
The role of the demon was played by Canadian-born actress Elaina Huffman, nee Kalange. Before appearing on the screen in such an extravagant guise as the demon Abbadon, the actress actively acted in films - her debut took place at the age of 13. The girl easily outperformed all the competitors at the casting and successfully started her acting career.
She managed to create in her own way a charming image of a demon, not burdened by human morality, and at the same time not go too far. In "Supernatural" Abaddon conquers with some kind of perfect beauty and refinement, manners, an amazing combination of a charming smile and a cold look. You involuntarily believe in the image created by Elaina Huffman, without deliberate external aggressiveness, Abaddon looks more dangerous, unpredictable and uncompromising, like a real destroyer from the Underworld.
