The opening of the large Orthodox St. Nicholas Church in Krasnogorsk is delayed, the construction of which was so much written about by the media at the time. Presumably, the new modern temple in the Pavshinsky floodplain was supposed to receive parishioners in April-June 2017. However, the timing of this grandiose construction is still delayed. The article is devoted to the project, the construction of the church and its significance.

Start

The first stone of St. Nicholas Church was laid back in 2013. On January 19, Metropolitan Yuvenaaliy performed the ceremony of laying the foundation stone, followed by the “Order for the Foundation of the Temple.” The religious procedure was held in a solemn atmosphere in the presence of the governor of the Moscow region and the head of the Krasnogorsk region.

The well-known architect and author of the project of St. Nicholas Church in the Pavshinsky floodplain Andrey Obolensky told the guests and participants of the ceremony that the church would be the highest in the area and, together with the cross, would reach 53 meters. It will be able to accommodate about one and a half thousand parishioners, which is important, since inthe microdistrict is home to almost 60 thousand inhabitants.

Project

The monolithic reinforced concrete building of the temple, with a total area of more than 4,500 square meters, was built on two floors, interconnected by three stairs. For the convenience of parishioners in the church, it is planned to install lifts. The upper temple was erected in honor of St. Nicholas, and the throne of St. Andrew the First-Called will be located in the basement. The temple complex, presumably, will contain a baptismal, a refectory, a Sunday school, and an assembly hall on the lower floor. In the upper temple, a chapel, an open upper gallery for singers (choirs), service rooms and access to the bell tower were planned. Parking for wedding corteges and mourning transport is planned on the territory, as well as laying out an apple orchard.

According to the plan of Andrey Obolensky, temple architect, church domes should change their color for every Orthodox holiday. Such an effect, according to him, can be achieved by a modern lighting system.

Today's construction phase

The main work on the construction of the temple in the Pavshinsky floodplain has been completed. Now the exterior and interior decoration is being carried out, followed by painting and other decoration. In 2014, next to the construction site, a temporary frame-shield church was built, where services are held by the rector of the temple, priest Pavel Ostrovsky, who in 2016 performed the rite of consecration of the Nikolsko-church bells.

The church is locatedon Krasnogorsky Boulevard along the banks of the Moskva River opposite the pedestrian bridge, and is expected to be completed in 2018.
