Today, Richard Zimmerman lives in Germany and serves as the Bishop of the Union of Churches of Christians of the Evangelical Faith. He was born in the Soviet Union. Richard's gifts as a church preacher and teacher began to unfold after his ordination to the diaconate in 1979.
Those years were difficult for Christians - communism in the USSR gave rise to more and more persecution and persecution by the authorities, to which Zimmerman himself was subjected. So, in 1982, a criminal case was opened against church ministers Richard Zimmerman and Stepan Kostyuk. The investigation dragged on for a year. In December 1983, Kostyuk and Zimmerman were charged. But despite all the legal hardships, Stepan and Richard behaved with dignity and independently defended their honor and freedom of religion.
Having received two years probationimprisonment and being placed under house arrest, Richard was unable to attend services. However, after serving his sentence, he immediately continued his activities.
In the early 1990s, when the Iron Curtain fell, the famous American evangelist of the Assemblies of God, Bert Clendennen, opened a Bible school in Moscow that trained pastors for the service. Richard Zimmerman actively helped in its development and participated in the ministry. Thanks to this, by 1995, for example, more than six hundred people had studied at the Bible School.
Then John Kim, a missionary of the "Church of God's Holiness", also arrives in Moscow. He creates the Agape Bible School. The course of study there was one year. And here Zimmerman also took an active part.
Richard Zimmerman was ordained a bishop in 1994 and left Russia in 1995 to live in Germany.
