In the name of Allah the Merciful the Merciful. The second pillar of great Islam is the performance of five prayers. From the words of the Prophet (peace be upon him) it becomes clear how important prayer is for the believer, he also pointed out the virtues of prayer and how it affects the life of a Muslim. This is also indicated by the words of Allah Almighty himself in the Qur'an. Observance of the five times prayer is the duty of a Muslim, and leaving it is disbelief, according to an authentic hadith, which was cited in their books by Imam Ahmad, Tirmidhi and Abu Dawood and others. And this is the opinion of Ahli Sunnah on this issue.

In addition to the obligatory prayers, in Islam there are additional prayers, for which a great reward is promised from the Lord of the worlds. Leaving such prayers is not considered a great sin, but it is a reprehensible deed in religion. To know what additional prayers, types and their times are in general, you need to look at the sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). It explains everything very clearly and clearly.

Ratibat prayers

The first type of additional prayers that deserves special attention is ratibats. About their virtues, the Prophet (peace be upon him) in his authentic hadith said that their alignment will cause the construction of a housein Paradise. There are 12 rak'ahs during the day of ratibat prayers. It is a special sunnah to read two rak'ahs voluntarily before the morning obligatory prayer. Prayer is read in a shortened form, and it does not take a very long time. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said that this prayer is better than this world and everything in it. Therefore, do not neglect it.

Followed by 4 rak'ahs before the dinner prayer and two after. Following the example of the Prophet (peace be upon him), it is clear that while reading these ratibats, it is necessary to read any other sura in each rak'ah after the Fatih. Also, these additional prayers include lining up after sunset and evening prayers. They are read in 2 rak'ahs, in general it will turn out 12. In order for the following of the Prophet to be complete, one must try to stand these prayers. According to the hadiths from the Messenger of Allah, these additional prayers according to the Sunnah are read at home so that the Lord of the Worlds will give a share of good to the house of the believer.

Night prayer tahajut

For almost a year, tahajjut - a prayer for the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his companions - was obligatory. Then, by His grace, Allah sends down a sura in which he makes the nightly additional prayer voluntary. However, all the same, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) himself was constant in building it and encouraged his companions to do so. There is a reliable hadith where the Prophet (peace be upon him) reports the descent of the Merciful Allah to the near heaven. This happens in the last third of the night, and at this time all the prayers of the believers are accepted.

An additional prayer at night should be read 2 rak'ahs and out loud, but not in a very loud voice. The Prophet (peace be upon him) loved to stand for a long time, almost until it began to get light. He read long surahs, carefully pronouncing all the sounds and making pauses. He said that after the five obligatory prayers, the reward is tahajjut. The righteous predecessors of this community loved to spend their nights in prayer, because they had a completely different understanding of religion. They understood the true value of this prayer.

Witr prayer

Witr is what ended the night extra prayer. The name is due to the oddness of the rak'ahs, they can be from 1 to 11. The Messenger of Allah said that reading witr is a duty, and whoever leaves him is not from his community. That's how demanding he was to do it. It is necessary to add du'a kunut to this additional prayer. However, there are several opinions about when it should be added. Hanafis read qunut every day in vitra, while Shafiites read in the second half of Ramadan.

additional suras in prayer
additional suras in prayer

The difference of this prayer is that it has a special sequence. There are additional suras in prayer, which are indicated by the sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him). So, in the first rak'ah after Fatiha, "al-A'la" is read, and in the second and third "al-Kafirun" and "al-Ihlyas". Although reading other parts of the Quran is also allowed.

The Prophet strictly forbade going to bed without reading the Witr prayer. He himself woke up for the night prayer and ended his prayer with one rak'ah of the Witr prayer. A Muslim who acts like thisthus, he will receive much benefit for his following the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him).

Prayer of the spirit

This type of prayer is read after the sun has already risen and until the moment when it is at its zenith. Spirit is prayer at a time when a person is most immersed in worldly affairs. The remembrance of Allah at such a time is a highly encouraged good deed, and the reward for it is great. In some traditions from the Prophet (peace be upon him) it is reported that Allah will forgive the person who read the prayer of the spirit, even if the sins are like foam in the sea. And in another hadith it is said that in paradise there is a gate of the Spirit-prayer, and through them those who were constant in it will enter paradise.

There are no strict instructions on the number of rak'ahs, because this is a voluntary prayer. However, it is reported that the Messenger of Allah performed 2, 4, and sometimes 8 rak'ahs. Everyone chooses how much he wants and can read, because he himself will receive the award. The performance of this prayer becomes an occasion for the pleasure of Allah, perhaps because of the spirit, the slave will enter paradise.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said that whoever reads the morning prayer with the team, and then remains in the mosque, remembering Allah, and so until the sun is high, then reads the prayer of the spirit, he will receive a reward, as for full umrah and hajj. And this is a great opportunity for Muslims!

Taraweeh prayer in the holy month of Ramadan

The holy month of Ramadan is a special time for Muslims. During this period, one should especially diligently move away from sins and strive to do as many good deeds as possible. Additional prayers in IslamRamadan have a special place, because the reward for them increases. However, there is a prayer that can only be found this month. This is taraweeh prayer. This prayer is read every day after the evening prayer and until the first signs of dawn appear.

Whoever reads tarawih prayer, hoping for a reward from Allah, his past sins will be forgiven. This is an approximate translation of the hadith from the Prophet (peace be upon him). This is a very important sunnah for both men and women. It is better to read it with the team in the mosque, but you can also read it at home. As for the number of rak'ahs of tarawih prayer, during the time of the righteous Caliph Umar, 20 rak'ahs were established. However, there are legends about 11 rakahs, it all depends on the desire of people, how much they want good deeds. But at the same time, you should not go to extremes.

During the tarawih prayer, it is advisable to read the entire Qur'an for the holy month of Ramadan. The true believer takes great pleasure in this prayer. It also acts as a factor in the unity of the community, because the value of collective prayer cannot be overestimated.

Additional prayer after ablution (tahiyatul wudu)

Having done the proper ablution and reciting a special dua at the end, a person becomes ritually cleansed. In this state, one can turn to the Lord of the Worlds with any prayer. However, in the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) there are words about the dignity of prayer after ablution or tahiyatul wudu.

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) once met one of his companions, who was constant in committing tahiyatul wudu. In a hadithIt is reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) asked him about an act that brings a companion closer to paradise. It is reported that his footsteps were heard in paradise. Then the companion replied that he always performs two rak'ahs of prayer after each ritual ablution. This tradition reflects the great dignity of this prayer, and how this deed is loved by Allah.

Prayer greeting mosque (tahiyatul masjid)

Everyone in the world has his own right, and this also applies to the houses of Allah. Based on the name of the additional prayer tahiyatul masjid, one can understand that it is directly related to the mosque. It is translated as "prayer of greeting to the mosque". There is a direct order of the Messenger of Allah, when entering the mosque, do not immediately sit down, but perform two rak'ahs of prayer.

There are many versions of whether this prayer is always done, or there is a time when it does not need to be performed. Comparing all the arguments, you can see that the most correct opinion is the first. The Prophet even stopped at his Friday sermon and forced one of his companions to read the tahiyatul masjid. This prayer is so important. After all, the Friday sermon occupies a special position in Islam, and every Muslim should listen to it. This is one of the most powerful arguments in favor of this opinion.

Ask for help in business through the istikhora prayer

Man's knowledge is limited, and he often does not know how to act in a certain situation. However, Allah is omniscient and He has infinite knowledge. Therefore, in all cases where there is doubt, you need to ask for help from yourself. Lords of the Worlds. In the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) there is such a wonderful prayer as istikhora. This prayer is an appeal to Allah for help.

Istikhora consists of two rak'ahs, after which you need to read a special prayer. The content of this prayer is the praise of Allah Almighty and the voicing of the problem that worries the believer. In prayer, a Muslim asks his Lord for help in choosing and trusts in Him in this matter. This kind of attitude allows you to relieve stress. And then comes help from Allah in the form of the best option.

After reading the istikhora prayer, one should consult with the possessors of knowledge and act in accordance with knowledge. Allah will surely find a way to help his sincere slave. After all, there is a promise of the Almighty God in the Koran, and this is already worth a lot.

Eclipse Prayer

According to the Sunnah, there are additional prayers for many occasions. In the case of solar and lunar eclipses, the Prophet (peace be upon him) read voluntary prayer, and his example is the best guide for the believer.

You need to perform this prayer without adhan and iqomat, it is somewhat similar to the Friday prayer. The difference is that the sermon is not delivered. According to the Hanafi madhhab, the eclipse prayer is read like the usual two rak'ahs. And the opinion of Shafi'i scholars is the performance of additional earthly prostrations, which are performed after reading the surah Al-Fatiha. The Quran is read to oneself during a solar eclipse, and aloud during a lunar eclipse. Can be read both with Jamaat and individually.

This Sunnah in ourtime is not very common, but you can get a rich reward for reviving it. After all, according to the hadith, the one who revives the sunnah will be recorded with the blessing of a hundred martyrs.

Tasabih prayer

Another prayer from among the additional prayers is tasabih. The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught this prayer to his uncle Abbas and delighted the believers with favorable news. He said that all sins will be forgiven if a Muslim performs at least one tasabih prayer.

In this prayer, the following words are pronounced: “Subhanallahi wal-hamdulillahi wa la ilaha illallahu wallahu akbar.” They need to be repeated seventy-five times, in each rak'ah of prayer. The tasbih prayer itself is read in four rak'ahs. The main difference from other four-rakah prayers is only this tasbiha formula, which is pronounced in almost all positions.

The intention is made to perform a voluntary prayer of four rak'ahs. Then you need to pronounce the takbir and read the dua istighfar, after that you need to pronounce the above-mentioned tasbih formula 15 times. Then they read the sura al-Fatiha and any other sura and pronounce the tasbih fifteen times. Then they make a waist bow, and in this position the tasbih is pronounced ten times. Then they straighten up from the waist bow and again pronounce this tasbih formula ten times. A prostration is made and the tasbih is pronounced ten times. Between prostrations and during the second, this formula is also pronounced ten times. As a result, one rakah contains seventy-five pronunciations of tasbeeh. Subsequent rak'ahs are read in a similar way. For all the prayerthe tasbih formula is repeated three hundred times.

This prayer can be performed both with a team and alone. But bearing in mind that this is a voluntary prayer, it would be better to perform it alone. In general, it is preferable to do voluntary prayers not in public in order to exclude the element of show.

We have considered additional prayers and their description, now it becomes clear that the mercy of Allah is great in relation to people. Each type of prayer indicated in the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is the greatest we alth of a Muslim. Depending on the name of the additional prayer and when it is performed, you need to perform it in accordance with the Sunnah. If all conditions are met, a person can approach Allah and receive a huge reward for this, the magnitude of which only the Almighty knows. One thing is known: the reward for good deeds will be paradise. For a believer, what could be better than arriving in the realms of pleasure and knowing that Allah is pleased with you? After all, voluntary prayer is the best way to please the Almighty. For this reason, one can move away from the fire of hell and enter the gardens of Eden. This is a success after which there is no success!
