On the Yaroslavl Highway, once called the Trinity Road, there is an amazingly beautiful temple erected in honor of one of the most revered icons of the Mother of God - Vladimirskaya. Much is remembered and much could be told by its walls, which are witnesses of the last three centuries of the history of our country. What do they store in their memory?
The first documentary evidence of the temple
When the difficult time of the Time of Troubles passed, the peasants of the villages located on the site of the present regional city of Mytishchi, leaving the ruined houses, settled near the Troitsky tract, where they once levied a fee, or, as they used to say in the old days, “myt for the transported goods. From this archaic expression, which gave the root to the gospel word "publican" - a tax collector, there was also the name of the village Mytishchi, which was soon formed, to which the wooden church was moved from its former place.
There is no data on when the current church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God was built in Mytishchi, it is only known that the firstdocumentary mention of it, associated with the consecration of the newly built throne in it, dates back to 1713. In the absence of more accurate information, this year is considered to be the date of its foundation.
The next time, in 1735, the same temple was mentioned in the petition of its headman Ivan Trofimov for permission to pave a stone floor in it instead of a wooden one - "very rotten and dilapidated." This good undertaking was approved by the diocesan authorities, and the temple in Mytishchi acquired not only stone slabs that paved its floor for centuries, but also carved stone thrones.
Volunteers
In the old days it was customary to build on the conscience, especially when it came to church buildings. They were afraid: well, how negligence at the Last Judgment will be remembered. But time took its toll, and even the temples of God fell into disrepair. The common fate was shared by the Church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in Mytishchi. Shortly after the expulsion of Napoleon from Russia, his abbot had to hire a team of masons to dismantle the bell tower and the old refectory that had become completely unusable.
Dismantling is half the battle, but where to get the money for a new building? But the same rector, Father Dimitry (Fedotov), pretty much stirred the hearts of the parishioners, reminding them that only what was donated to their neighbor and the church of God would become their "never failing treasure in heaven." He spoke for a long time, quoting Holy Scripture and appealing to the conscience of the Mytishchi peasants, but he got his way. Having untied the skinny purses, the Orthodox helped the holy cause. In 1814the diocesan bishop solemnly consecrated the new refectory and the bell tower erected above it.
God's cover over an engineering structure
It is curious to note that the Church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in Mytishchi played an important role in such a seemingly far-from-religious matter as Moscow's water supply. The fact is that not far from it, the waters of the Holy, or, as it was also called, the Thunder Spring, which spouted from the earth, gave rise to the first Moscow water pipeline laid in 1804.
Well, will water flow properly through the pipes, if there is no God's favor? For this reason, annual religious processions from the temple to the Holy Key were arranged with prayers and subsequent blessing of water, thanks to which water flowed uninterruptedly from the taps of Moscow apartments.
Last pre-revolutionary years
In 1906, a small church was assigned to the temple in Mytishchi, located not far from it in the village of Perlovsky. Trouble, of course, increased, but the staff, thank God, increased. This made it possible for the rector of the church, Father Nikolai (Protopopov), to apply to the Consistory with a request for the allocation of funds for the construction of a parochial school. It can be seen that this time the Mytishchi peasants were stingy, yes, what to take from them - God will forgive.
The fathers of the consistory allocated money, and in 1912 a school was built on them, in which the children of the surrounding residents were educated free of charge. In the same place, classes were held with adults on catechesis, that is, the study of the foundations of Orthodoxy. As a result, thanks to the labors of priest Nikolai Protopopov, the wholethe generation of Mytishchi residents grew up literate and pious.
In the grip of ungodly power
In 1929, the local, already Soviet authorities decided to close the Church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in Mytishchi - as a hotbed of false teaching that runs counter to the ideology of the Bolshevik Party. But the unexpected happened - the people, always submissive and accustomed to silence, suddenly rebelled. More than six hundred people gathered at the temple of God to protest against its closure. But in those years, it was impossible to get off with a “kopeck piece” - echelons with convicts under the fifty-eighth article had long been going north.
And the authorities backtracked. The temple continued to work, although two of its priests, as "organizers of the riots", were nevertheless exiled to Solovki. However, the parishioners were not left alone. In the thirties, having suffered another failure, trying once again to close the temple, the local leadership ordered the large bell to be removed from its bell tower, and the nearby chapel to be demolished. In the mid-thirties, the authorities in their nasty things went even further, handing over to the Renovationists the Church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in Mytishchi, which had risen across their throats.
This story is by no means new. The Renovationists are a schismatic movement within the Orthodox Church. His followers advocated a change in the Church Charter, changes in worship and tried to cooperate with the Bolsheviks. For the time being, they did them all kinds of indulgences, which included the transfer to their disposal of numerous confiscatedMoscow Patriarchy of Churches.
The final trampling of the shrine
During the war, the Church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in Mytishchi (a photo of those years is given in the article) was finally closed. Its bell tower was demolished, and the building itself, having been fairly rebuilt, has been used since then for household needs. In those years, the external features of many industrial buildings eloquently testified that once these buildings were the churches of God. The Church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in Mytishchi did not escape the common fate.
The schedule of worship is the first sign of the revival of the life of the temple
Only in 1991, on the wave of "universal spiritual enlightenment", the mutilated and defiled temple was returned to its true owners - the Mytishchi Orthodox community. The first service was celebrated in May of the same year. However, a large and complex restoration work lay ahead, which would last for five years. For much of this period, services were held in a nearby home owned by a parishioner.
As a result of the work of a large number of builders and restorers, by 1996, the long-suffering church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in Mytishchi finally acquired its original appearance. The schedule of divine services, which appeared at his entrance, became clear evidence that the religious life of the parish had entered its course. By the grace of God every day at 8:30 begins in itthe reading of the Hours and the subsequent liturgy, and at 17:00 the evening service. On Sundays and holidays, two liturgies are served - early at 6:30 and late at 9:30.
