The Fatima prophecy has been hotly debated among both theologians and secular researchers for almost a century now. In fact, this is not one prediction, but three. Two of them became known almost immediately after the Fatima miracle happened. The last, most important, the Catholic Church kept a secret for more than half a century. The Pope published its contents only in 2000. A new debate immediately flared up around him.
Someone completely believed the honesty of the Catholic leadership, someone decided that the church hid the real text of the prophecy or did not publish it in full. However, first, let's recall what exactly happened and who voiced these predictions.
The Fatima prophecy was made by a little girl, a resident of the Portuguese village of Cova de Iria, located near the city of Fatima in 1917. She received it, according to her, from the lips of the Mother of God herself. On the thirteenth of May, three children - a boy and two girls who were grazing cattle in the vicinity of the city - saw a strange beautiful anda very young woman dressed in white and holding a rosary. It was extremely unusual, and so Lucia asked the radiant lady where she came from. In response, the woman told the child that she had descended from heaven. With childish spontaneity, Lucia asked why. In response, the lady asked the children to come under this oak every thirteenth and promised that she would tell about who she was and what she needed in October.
Thus began the story that led to the receipt of the prediction, which is known as the "Fatima prophecy". The next day, the fact that the children saw the Mother of God became known to the whole village. On June 13, a huge number of people gathered near the oak. The Blessed Virgin appeared to the children several more times precisely on the 13th, although no one except them saw her. She only spoke to Lucy. In the course of communication with this girl, all three predictions were received.
The first Fatima prophecy spoke of the imminent end of the world war. The second concerned Russia. The Blessed Virgin predicted a future revolution, victory in World War II and persecution of the church. The last prophecy - the third - was made in October. Perhaps this incident would have remained unknown to anyone if it had not been for a miracle that happened, which was seen by all the spectators present in the amount of about one hundred thousand people.
As soon as Lucia received the third prophecy of Fatima, something very strange happened in the sky. The sun suddenly turned pale, and its rays became iridescent. After that, it moved from its place and flew like a stone toearth. Everyone who watched this fell to their knees in fear. The Church recognized the case as genuine and confirmed that the children saw the Mother of God. In 1957, Lucia gave the Pope the text of the third prophecy she had received in a sealed envelope.
At the same time, she insisted that it be made public no earlier than 1960. In 59, several priests opened the envelope to prepare a prediction for publication. However, after reading its contents, the representatives of the church decided to keep it a secret.
It was published only 83 years after the Fatima miracle happened. The third prophecy contained a description of a vision that appeared before the eyes of children in October 1917. According to Lucia, they observed a procession of priests and believers ascending a mountain with a cross on top. On the way, the pope and the ministers of the church passed the city, in which there were a lot of corpses. As soon as the procession climbed the mountain, soldiers appeared and shot the holy people.
The Church interpreted this as a prediction of an assassination attempt on Pope John II, which happened, oddly enough, on May 13, but in 1981. However, many researchers doubt that such an important prophecy could concern only the church. From the veil of secrecy that hung over it for more than half a century, it could be judged that it contained no less than a prediction of the end of the world or something like that.
However, the whole truth about the true content of this prophecy is known only to the priests. Lucia died in 2005year, without revealing this secret to anyone. Her brother and sister left this world as children.
Whether the church told the truth or lied, no one knows. The prophecy has been published. And everyone is free to interpret it in their own way.
