Prayers to Sergius of Radonezh - the great heritage of all Orthodox

The most revered and all-embracing saint in Russia was and remains Sergius of Radonezh. He deserved such recognition thanks to his lifestyle and extraordinary asceticism for the glory of Russian Orthodoxy.

The path of Sergius of Radonezh

Sergius of Radonezh - one of the most revered saints (years of life 1314 -1392), who founded several monasteries. He transformed Russian monasticism by introducing the concept of “high life” (proving the possibility of such a personal example), created an excellent school of students who continued his work, rallied the boyars around Prince Dmitry Donskoy and predicted his victory in the Battle of Kulikovo (for which he prayed furiously in his cell). And, finally, he laid the ideology of the Great Russian nation as the basis of the state.

The strength and effectiveness of the prayer to Sergius of Radonezh has never been questioned by numerous believers, because the “Hegumen of the Russian Land” is revered by them as the greatest defender and intercessor before the Lord. They turn to him for help in any vital matter.

Sergius himself especially revered the prayer for the strengthening of faith. Only with faith it was possible to live the "angelic"life and achieve such recognition and worship, even refusing the post of head of the Russian church. Lifetime fame attracted people to the Sergiev-Troitsk Lavra just to see St. Sergius.

Prayers for help

According to the biography completed in 1417 by the student Epiphanius the Wise, the middle son of the boyar Kirill lagged noticeably behind his peers in teaching, which upset both teachers and parents. After his meeting with the schemnik monk, the monk Bartholomew (such a name was given to the Reverend at birth) received God's grace, and he became the first disciple.

Hence the most popular prayers to Sergius of Radonezh for the successful passing of the exam, which are effective for passing any subject in any educational institution.

Teaching is not always easy and joyful for everyone. From time immemorial, in such situations, both children and parents should (along with the study of subjects) pray to Sergius of Radonezh for help in learning.

The monk earned the title of "reverend" very early, at the age of 23. For two years, Monk Bartholomew, all alone, subjected to threats and temptations, completed the construction of cells and the Trinity Church, which became the basis of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra.

Among the large number of prayers that are addressed to the great "saint", there is also a prayer to St. Sergius of Radonezh for the successful start and end of any business.

Happily avoiding persecution and torture in his life, the saint proved the uselessness of "torture of the flesh" in the monastic life. He insisted that lifethe monk should be aimed at strengthening the spirit (which is facilitated by the rejection of "worldly" sins: hatred, we alth, power and violence), then there will be fewer temptations, and there is no need to torture the flesh. Therefore, prayers to Sergius of Radonezh for strengthening the strength of faith and spirit are so sincere.

Great deeds of a saint

In 1452, the great church leader was canonized, that is, he was officially canonized, and the prayer to St. Sergius of Radonezh received its validity.

Monks were drawn to Sergius from all sides of Russia. After the death of the saint, they erected 40 churches. And the Trinity-Sergius Lavra was at one time a reliable stronghold of the young statehood in Russia. Any prayer created within its walls is a tribute to the blessed memory of the greatest man, thanks to whose activities the foundation of a mighty country was laid.

Four prayers and an akathist are directed to him as a great intercessor, in which believers ask him for spiritual and bodily healing, for assistance in raising offspring, for protection and guidance on the true path before the threat of the Last Judgment.
