Serpukhov is one of the oldest cities in Russia. The first mentions date back to 1339. The city attracts visitors not only with historical monuments, but also with churches. History

But already in 1696, the decision was put forward by the archimandrite of the Moscow Spaso-Andronikov Church Theodosius to restore the Trinity Cathedral of Serpukhov. In the 17th century, the Trinity Cathedral was completely dismantled. But already in 1837-1841, the restoration of the historical monument began. In the course of the work, the octagon and the bell tower of the cathedral were changed. A decision was also made to build a chapel of Myrliki Nicholas.

Since 1930, the Serpukhov Trinity Cathedral has completely ceased its activity. And the premises were completely transferred to warehouses. This is due to the coming of the Bolsheviks to power. The servants of the cathedral fell under repression, and valuables and artifacts were stolen.

Since the 1960s, interest in the historical monument has been renewed. And the restoration work began. But there was not enough finance, the cathedral was still in a dilapidated state.

And in 1985, the Trinity Cathedral was reclassified as a local history museum. Museum workers carried out cleaning, began small work to restore the temple. This saved the Trinity Cathedral from complete destruction.

In 2003, on September 21, the first divine service was held in the Trinity Cathedral of Serpukhov, lighting with water. And in 2017, work began on the restoration of the historical monument. The difficult road that the Trinity Cathedral in Serpukhov "passed", historical photos are still preserved.

Restoration

• windows changed.

During the restoration, important goals were set. One of which was the supply of gas, water and electricity not only to the Serpukhov Trinity Cathedral, but also to the outbuildings. Thanks to the work done - heating, the walls of the cathedral are bugged, the restoration of the temple does not stop even in the cold season.

The relics of the abbots are buried on the territory of the temple, for example, the tombstone of the former servant of the temple, deacon Athanasius, was placed.
