People rarely turn to God during the prosperous periods of their lives. They remember him more often when trouble comes. It is at such moments that the question arises of how to make a request for help heard. Apparently, some unusual, strong prayer is needed for special occasions. And not just universal, but in each specific situation its own, special.
All prayers fall into three categories. The first of these is praise. When someone says "glory to God", he pronounces the simplest formula that sings of the Lord. Unfortunately, this expression has become commonplace and is often used without proper understanding of its essence.
The second type of prayer is thanksgiving. "Thank you, Lord!" - three words that contain the essence of the feelings of a person who felt the presence of a higher power that saved him from trouble.
And finally, pleading prayers. People turn to guardian angels, the Mother of God, saints or Christ with their needs. Sometimes - about he alth, sometimes about well-being or material we alth, because we live on earth, and our needs are quitespecific.
It is believed that for each occasion there is some kind of strong prayer, saying which, you can achieve a greater effect than calling to heaven with ordinary words. Just as a prayed icon that has become miraculous helps more often than an ordinary one, so a proven canonical text will be heard first.
Prayer books are sold in any church shop. Having bought this pamphlet, after the service, you can go up to the priest and ask him which prayer is the most powerful. He will probably ask what misfortune befell the good parishioner, and, no doubt, he will indicate on which page there is a text suitable for the occasion, the reading of which will help win grace. But the instructions of the priest are not limited to this. Like a doctor who does not treat diseases, but a patient, a real spiritual shepherd will show you how to live in Christ in order to win the Lord's love. After all, the most powerful prayer in the mouth of a fierce, evil and malevolent person will become an empty shaking of the air.
God, in all His boundless mercy, often helps people who are not churched, but lead a righteous life, and turn to him with a brief request for salvation (sometimes there is no time for wordy speeches). It happens that seconds separate from imminent death, during which it is only possible to have time to say: “God save!” - and there is no one else to rely on. Those who have been fortunately delivered never again doubt His existence, even if they have lived all previous years convincedatheists.
Why did prayers arise that are used in specific cases, if the main criterion for gaining grace is the sincerity of faith?
The long history of Christianity has brought us the names of saints who shone in various fields. Based on the features of their biographies, described in the "Lives", we can conclude that they are especially patronized by people of different professions. For the same reasons, various worldly problems are distributed among the prophets, saints and martyrs. So, it is believed that the strongest prayers for he alth should be addressed to St. Panteleimon, and if failures in business are haunting, or a dangerous trip is ahead, then it is better to turn to St. Nicholas.
Canonical rules in church life are very important. The order of Orthodox worship has a sacred meaning, each stichera or troparion takes its own place in it, verified by theosophical science. However, no matter how great the significance of the ritual, sincere faith still occupies the main place.
