Vera Samsonova was born in 1880 in one of the villages of the Tambov province. She graduated from a women's school, then worked as a teacher, while attending the temple. Vera was arrested in 1935 and sentenced for counter-revolutionary activities to five years of hard labor in camps. Two weeks before her release, Vera died in 1940 in the White Sea-B altic camp. She was glorified in 2000. Vera's birthday, bearing her name in her honor, is celebrated on the day of her death - June 14.

Martyr Faith of Rome

The Holy Martyr from Rome named Vera is one of the daughters of Sophia, who were tortured in front of her mother for professing Christianity in the 2nd century under Emperor Hadrian. At that time, Vera was only 12 years old. Together with her, her two sisters, Nadezhda and Lyubov, died. And three days later, Sophia herself died of grief at the grave of her daughters.
