Prayers to John the Warrior are read by people who cannot find peace in their souls. There is little information about the life of this saint. But what is known is striking and thought provoking.
Real figure
History knows that the future righteous man was born in the IV century. There are no facts left about the family and the origin of the believer. But the researchers believe that, most likely, the man was a Slav, because he served in the Scythian tribe of warriors.
The Knight of Good served in the army of the tyrant and atheist Julian the Apostate, whose reign fell on 361-363. The emperor was known as a wise philosopher. At the same time he studied rhetoric. He had every chance to become a good ruler. But then he became interested in paganism, which revealed his dark essence. Prayer to the martyr John the Warrior helps fight false faith. After all, this saint lived at a time when there were thousands of atheists around him. He helped some with words, others with deeds. There were those who realized its power and converted to Christianity.
Wrong way
Yulian grew up as an orphan from childhood. Repeatedly, strange circumstances saved the boy from death. He was surrounded by the greatest minds of the time. Participation inupbringing took the bishop himself. But the young man secretly admired paganism. In the course of political events, he received the title of emperor. While full power belonged to others, Julian hid his religious preferences. But as soon as he was on the throne, he immediately undertook to restore the traditions of the pagans. Consequently, Christianity suffered greatly. The two religions were opposed to each other. The emperor used dishonest methods in the fight against faith in the Almighty.
Unofficially, even prayers were banned at that time. Saint John the Warrior was aware of his destiny and tried to help people as much as possible. He got a job serving in the royal army and through cunning did good deeds.
Renegade Story
Very interesting story about how Julian got his nickname. Once the emperor held sacrifices to idols on the territory of the basilica, which was intended for walks and business conversations. An old blind sage passed through those places. His guide was a little boy. The kid told the old man everything that happened around him. When grandfather realized what the emperor was doing, he approached him and called him an atheist and an apostate. To these words, the ruler replied: "You are blind, and your God will not restore your sight." To such a promise, the sage said: "I should thank the Creator for my blindness, because I do not see your sins." Julian remained silent and continued the ritual, but since then the nickname Renegade has become stronger behind him.
Meanwhile, the righteous soldier continued to help innocent people. He constantly and sincerely read his prayers. John the Warrior was assisted in the affairs of the Lord himself.
Dark Time
You can learn about the appearance of the saint today from paintings and icons. There, artists portrayed him as a tall, strong man. He had black hair that fell in strands over his face and a dark beard. They painted a knight in armor and with a cloak. The authors placed special emphasis on clothing, thus historians learned that the saint was a mounted warrior.
John pretended to be a fighter and carried out his tasks without hesitation. He helped Christians in trouble and those who were captured by the soldiers. He gave the prisoners food and water. If possible, warned people about the danger. Often the saint saved brothers in faith from prison. It should be noted that prayer to John the Warrior even today contributes to the release of the innocent. In the event that a person has sinned, one can turn to the martyr with a request to guide the light of God on the path.
But the righteous man was merciful not only to Christians. Everyone who found himself in trouble or a difficult situation received help from him. The good nature of the martyr did not depend on what faith the person professed.
Tragic ending
When the emperor found out about the secret life of a Christian soldier, he became very angry. He ordered the man to be seized and thrown into prison. The prisoner was starved, mocked in every possible way and was not given water. In difficult times, he thought about whether the case was worth such a punishment. The man was already ready to give up his mission, but prayer helped. John the Warrior had the patience to ask God for salvation, and the Creator gavehis greatest gift is the power of faith.
When the prisoner was brought to the dungeon, the emperor was on a campaign and could not impose the death pen alty on a Christian in his absence. The prisoner waited for a long time. But Julian was not destined to meet the righteous. The ruler died on June 26, 363 on the battlefield. Some contemporaries of the monarch testified that the war he started was doomed to defeat, the tyrant himself threw himself on the spears of the enemy. Other sources said that a pagan died at the hands of his warrior, who was offended by him.
Consequently, by order of the new ruler Jovian, who believed in the Lord, all religious prisoners were released. Sincere prayers helped John the Warrior, and he did not get tired of serving people.
Good deeds continue
After leaving the dungeon, the saint continued his mission. Little information remains about its further existence. But there are facts that the righteous man received the glory of a good and warm-hearted Christian. He lived a long life and died at a ripe old age. He bequeathed to bury himself in the cemetery, where the poor and wanderers, whom the saint loved so much, lay.
Many years later, people have forgotten where his grave is. Then the Christian came in a dream to a righteous woman and told her where his incorruptible relics were. The body of the saint was unearthed and transported to the Constantinople temple.
Prayers to John the Warrior are read by people who suffer from insults, those who are treated unfairly. He acts as a defender of the truth and saves frombullying.
Words to the righteous
You can turn to the saint with these words: “Good and strong Warrior John, guardian of the offended, helper of the unfortunate! Hear our prayers, for you are chosen by the Lord, your path is righteous, and your actions are healing. Comfort our sadness, take away sadness, change the pain of disappointment to happiness. Strengthen our spirit and give faith, as the Almighty has added strength to you. Close our bodies and hearts from the visible and secret enemy. Send him an understanding of the unfaithfulness of the actions and intentions of evil. Ask for a slave (name) from the Creator. Let him send invisible blessings, let him illuminate the path with the light of his sun. We praise God, the Son of His Christ and the Holy Spirit. Amen.”
The text is better to read with pure thoughts and a bright heart. Prayer to John the Warrior from the offender is not intended to punish the enemy. Its goal is to protect us from the ill-wisher and free the soul from resentment, which prevents us from living a Christian life.
Defender of Justice

Often they depicted a righteous man with three things that became a kind of emblems of the Warrior. He holds a cross in his hand as a sign that his faith has passed all sorts of tests, has not broken under the onslaught of enemies. The Christian also holds a sword or a spear, symbolizing the strength that the Almighty gave to the martyr to fight against injustice and injustice. The third element is the shield. This means that God has taken the righteous under His care and protects him from adversity.
