The gospel is "good news". What was the message, and why did people react so strongly to it?

The most important thought that believers should understand from the Gospel: God is always with Christians, he helps, supports. He loves people so much that he incarnated, accepted death on the cross for their sake. Then He, of course, resurrected, because it is God. This is the essence of Christian teaching, the essence of the Gospel.

And if earlier the Jews devoted entire volumes of inspired books to rituals, then Jesus died, leaving almost no tradition behind him. True, the apostles once noticed this omission and asked Him to teach the disciples to pray. Jesus answered with a very short prayer, which is now known to all Christians of the world - "Our Father".

This prayer, like many others, has been translated into national languages, there is a prayer "Our Father" in Russian too.

It begins, like the Church Slavonic version, with an appeal. "Our Father" in Church Slavonic and "Our Father" in Russian. The appeal is clear in any case: toGod is addressed as the Father. But the sacred language of prayer differs from the usual everyday language. It is unlikely that anyone will approach their dad with the word “Father”. Such an appeal is a sign of the deepest respect, reverence and even admiration. “Which thou art” is a grammatical form, nothing more. Thou is the verb of being and existence.

Do the words "heaven" and "heaven" differ in their inner feeling?

Slightly different. The sky is something astronomical, and heaven is a spiritual concept, therefore the prayer “Our Father” in Russian, if not distorting, then impoverishes the meaning.

Next comes: “Hallowed be Thy Name”. In most translations, this part is unchanged, but sometimes it is rendered as "may Thy Name be sacred."

"Sacred" is a reflexive verb, which means that the action is performed by the object itself. That is, the Name of God itself is "sanctified", regardless of whether it is sacred to someone or not. The prayer "Our Father" in Russian replaces the meaning.

The next few lines in the texts are the same. The biggest difference is in the phrase about “daily bread.”

The most important sacrament for the Orthodox is the Eucharist. At this moment the bread and wine are transformed into the Body and Blood of Christ. That is what the prayer is about. Daily bread is not a loaf or a loaf at all, it is just a communion. But the prayer “Our Father” in Russian says “give us for every day”, that is, it translates this phrase into an ordinary, everyday one. This is no longer a conversation about the great sacrament with God, but planning purchases.

The words of the prayer "Our Father" are sung at every Liturgy, they are sung before the meal and repeated at every prayer. The meaning of the prayer must be understood, of course, but it is still better to read it in Church Slavonic.

Neophytes who cross the church threshold for the first time want to understand everything in church life. They, of course, need a translation of the prayer "Our Father", an explanation of the meaning. Many grumble at the complex and incomprehensible language of church prayer. In fact, the prayer “Our Father”, the translation of which is not difficult to get, is clear and without special explanations, and in general the Church Slavonic language is very similar to Russian. If you learn literally one hundred words, the whole service will become clear and simple.
