So strange, we call on God, ask Him for help and intercession. What do we know about the Lord and His laws? At best, a story about how God created the earth, and then sent His Son into the world. The Son was crucified, He resurrected and returned again to the Father, to heaven. This is very short and exaggerated, of course.
Do we know the Commandments of God? If yes, that's great. If not, let's study and memorize.
History of occurrence
10 commandments were given to Moses by Jesus Christ himself. How did it happen? This historical moment is described in the Bible. Speaking very briefly about him, it was in Zion. Zion was in fire and smoke, thunder roared, lightning flashed. And in this element, suddenly, the voice of God was clearly heard, pronouncing the commandments. And then God wrote the commandments He had given on two tablets and gave them to Moses. Moses stayed on the mountain for 40 days, and when he went down to the people, he saw that they had forgotten about God. People danced and had fun, jumping around the golden calf. Moses was furious at this sight. He broke the tablets of commandments. And only after the people repented, God told Mosesmake new tablets and bring them to Him to re-write the commandments.
Next, all 10 commandments will be given. For easier understanding, they are presented in a simple and concise language. Except the first one, perhaps.
First commandment
We know the commandment "do not steal". But she is not number one. Which one is the first?
"I am the Lord your God… Thou sh alt have no other gods before Me."
God is one. All wisdom is in Him. In Him is life. There are no other gods besides Him. By the will of God, the sun shines, it rains and the wind rises. By His will, grass grows, ants crawl, birds sing. We are by His will. We are he althy, we can walk, talk, think, breathe - all this is thanks to God. Only He has the right to dispose of our lives, for this is life.
The Lord gives everyone as much as they need. He will not give a cross beyond human capabilities. Everything we have is given to us by God. And He has the right to take His gifts when He sees fit.
Second commandment
Think this is the commandment "Thou sh alt not steal"? No. The second commandment, briefly speaking about it, says: "Do not make yourself an idol."
There is only one idol - the Lord. Creator of heaven and earth. Everything else is His creation. It is impossible to deify the creation instead of the Creator.
God always takes care of us. The very fact that He allowed every inhabitant of the earth to be born, to see the light created by God, is not a reason for gratitude and glorification? But what do we doinstead of bringing gratitude to God? We grumble at His providence for us. Or we think that people can help us. If we believe that our Creator is not able to help, then are creations - people - stronger than God? Can they solve the problem that, as it seems to us, the Creator of the world is not able to solve? Unlikely. God is capable of everything, and everyone can rely on His help, ask for it.
To create an idol for oneself on earth, to worship a person or an idol is a sin and a great stupidity. And it is even more terrible and absurd to worship what a person has created himself. For example, a certain rich man made capital. He did it because God allowed it. And such an owner of capital begins to proudly raise his nose, tremble over his money, worship them like a deity. Isn't it stupid? Consider as an idol something that tomorrow may depreciate overnight. And this is instead of thanking God.
Third commandment
Christ's commandment "Thou sh alt not steal", isn't it the third one? No, not until we get there. The third commandment is: "Thou sh alt not take the name of thy Lord in vain." That is, do not call on the name of the Lord without reverence and trembling. Do not pronounce it like empty and mundane words.
Imagine a person is at work. And then they call him by name. A person breaks away from his activity and pays attention to the caller. But he stands and is silent. The man starts his work again and again hears the same caller calling him. He again breaks away from business, experiencing internal irritation. And in response - silence. Everything is repeated inthe third time, and then a person who is constantly interrupted from business just like that is unlikely to contain his irritation.
And what about God, who has hundreds of things to do? And he is distracted from them, paying attention to the caller. And he is silent. And God is not irritated, unlike man. Therefore, there is no need to pull the Savior in vain, He has enough things to do.
The Fourth Commandment
Which is the commandment "Thou sh alt not steal"? Fourth? No, the fourth commandment says: "Work six days, and give the seventh to God."
What does this mean, how to understand? Labor is obligatory, without it a person cannot fully live. Besides, idleness is the mother of all vices. Our bodies, for example, are constantly working. Why don't we force ourselves to work with our hands or work mentally? Six days a week they go to work. And the seventh day is a day of rest. Not idle lying in bed watching television, not entertainment events, most often turning into "overeating and drinking", but relaxing with God.
Go to church for liturgy, confession and communion. Returning home, thank God by reading the appropriate prayers. The remaining time is to read about God, pray to Him in your own words, watch a good spiritual film. In the evening, before going to bed, again thank the Lord with all my heart. And in the morning start work.
The Fifth Commandment
The commandment from the Bible "Thou sh alt not steal", what is its number? We'll get to it very soon. And now it's time to remember something no less important. "Honor thy parents."
Mom is the first word, the main thingword in our destiny. In the first line of the children's song, the whole essence of life is displayed. A mother bears her child, enduring all the disadvantages of her position. Mom gives birth to a baby, tormented by pain. Mom does not sleep at night, knowing that her child is absolutely helpless. And most of her life she is next to her son or daughter. So does dad.
Children grow up, they are no longer interested in parental instructions. The teenager begins to snarl in response to good advice or exhortation. A young man or young girl knows what to do. And they run away from home without hearing their parents. They strive to fly out into life, but what about mom and dad? They do not understand anything in the life of today's youth.
Swiftly running away from the parental home, answering the closest people with rudeness and sometimes rudeness, we forget what they did for us. Mom and dad were there and took care of their child when he was still quite disgusting to strangers. Parents give us everything, starting with life.
Mother and father are able to accept death instead of their child, to die for him. Are we capable of sacrificing ourselves in order to save the lives of our dearest people? However, we can keep God's commandment and strive to protect our moms and dads from the pain we cause. From humiliating them, from showing disrespect to their parents.
The Sixth Commandment
The Commandments "Thou sh alt not steal", "Thou sh alt not kill": what are they in number? "Thou sh alt not kill" is the sixth commandment.
Who is the Creator of this world? who breathed life intoeach person? God. Someone will be surprised and say that we were born from people. Rather, it would be correct to say that we were born through humans. The Lord allowed us to come into this world by sending us to our parents. Only God can give life. And people, unfortunately, have learned to take it away from their sisters and brothers in Christ.
Parents kill their children while they are in the womb. It's disgusting before God. A person has no right to take life, because he does not give it.
There is such a parable. There were two men living next door. And one of them was seduced by the we alth of the other. He snuck into his house at night, cut off his neighbor's head, and took the money. He leaves the house, and the dead neighbor is walking towards him. And his head is not his own, but the killer's. The latter was frightened, rushed out of the yard. He walks down the street and sees the murdered neighbor again.
After returning home and somehow surviving the rest of the night, the killer decided to get rid of the stolen money, hoping that the murdered neighbor would stop imagining him. Threw money into the river. But the ghost continued to haunt its killer. He could not stand it, he appeared before the authorities and confessed to the perfect sin.
The murderer was convicted, put in jail. But even there he had no peace, the dead man continued to pursue him. Then this man began to ask for prayers for him from an old priest, who knows how to be in prison. He asked to take communion. The priest said that you must first repent. The killer was surprised, because he repented of his crime. To which the old priest objected, pointing out to him that the life of the murdered neighbor and the life of the murderer weresimilar. And having killed him, the neighbor who remained alive seemed to have killed himself. As evidenced by the ghost with his head.
The killer admitted it, took communion and began to spend the night in prayer. The ghost has since ceased to disturb the repentant sinner.
Will God forgive such a sin? This sin cries out to heaven for vengeance. This is a very difficult question. With due and sincere repentance, the Lord sees our hearts.
The Seventh Commandment
"Do not kill", "do not steal" - from the 10 commandments of God. And if we remembered the first above, then when will we reach the second? A little more, just a little more patience.
Meanwhile, let's talk about the commandment "do not commit adultery." What does it mean? Do not commit adultery, that is, do not have relations with a woman or a man. More precisely, extramarital affairs.
Everything is built on marriage. And what is happening now in our society, especially among young people, is nothing but fornication. Promiscuity is a direct violation of the 7th commandment. What can such a generation give? Only an even more flawed generation. Good children will not be born from a rotten womb.
It's like animals. There are different dogs: another will not let a male close to her even during a hunt, when it is time for mating. And another pushes back the tail in front of the male canine sex even when she does not have estrus. And no matter how strange it may sound, the puppies - females, obtained from such a bitch, behave in the future, like their mother.
The same applies to people. Nobody canceled genetics. And if the girl is the futurewife and mother - behaving badly from youth, how will a daughter behave from such a mother?
Fornication is an abomination before God. He said "be fruitful and multiply", but do not "engage in promiscuity for pleasure". The difference is noticeable, right?
The Eighth Commandment
"Thou sh alt not steal" - the 8th commandment, finally we got to it.
A person has a right to property. Let it be petty and trifling, from the point of view of the neighbor, but this is his thing. And he has the right to have it. When someone claims the property of another, he offends the owner of the thing, thereby showing him disrespect.
Again, there is a very revealing parable about this. A very visual interpretation of the commandment "Thou sh alt not steal".
One person was engaged in trade. And always hung on his customers. He got rich because of this. But things were not going smoothly in the merchant's house. The children were constantly sick and had to spend money on expensive doctors. The more this man weighed down customers, the more expensive the treatment of his children became.
One day he was sitting in his shop and thinking about his own children. At that moment, it seemed to the person that the Heavens had opened. He saw scales, and next to them - angels. When they began to measure the he alth of the children of the merchant, the angels put it on the scales less than there were weights. The man was angry with the angels of God, he even wanted to shout at them. But the angels got ahead of the dishonest merchant:
- Why are you angry? The measure is correct. You undergive your customers and we undergive yourschildren. In this way the righteousness of God is accomplished.
The merchant became bitter. He sincerely repented of his deceit. And since then, when paying with customers, I put on the scales a little more than it should be. The kids are on the mend.
Equality should be everywhere. If we steal something, then God takes something from us.
The concept of "do not steal" is this: do not take someone else's, even in small things. Otherwise, you risk losing much more than you gain.
Ninth
"Do not steal", "do not deceive", "do not kill" - these commandments are a very important law on the life path of every person. What is the ninth commandment? Do not bear false witness against your neighbor. That is, do not slander another person.
When we lie about ourselves, we know it. And when we slander another person, he may not know about it. And all the dirt of slander, all its abomination remains on us. This is first. Secondly, God is the Witness of this slander. And one day the truth will come out, disgracing and exposing the slanderer.
Let's turn to a parable about this.
Two neighbors lived in the same village: Luka and Ilya. Luka did not like Ilya, for he was a hard-working man. Luka himself is a lazy person and a bitter drunkard. And then one day he decided to slander a hard-working neighbor. Luke went to court and brought false information that allegedly Ilya slandered the king.
At the trial, Ilya defended himself as best he could. But seeing that all this was useless, he turned to his neighbor and told him that God would reveal his lie against his neighbor.
Ilya was imprisoned. BUTLuke returned home. And what did he see? His old father fell into the fire and burned his face. In horror, Luke remembered Elijah's words. Rushed to the judges and confessed to his crime. So the slanderer suffered two punishments: from God and from the court, for Ilya was released, and the deceitful Luka was imprisoned.
The Tenth Commandment
We have analyzed almost all commandments from the Bible: "thou sh alt not steal", "thou sh alt not kill", "honor thy parents". What does the last one say? "Do not covet what your neighbor has."
Desire is the seed of sin. If we carefully read the previous nine commandments and this last one, we will see that they are different. In what? In the fact that in all nine commandments God prevents sinful acts of man. And here he looks into the root of sin, does not allow a person to sin in thoughts.
From sinful thoughts and sinful deeds grow. So, if a person looked with lust at his neighbor's wife today, then it is quite possible that tomorrow he will begin to think how to attract her attention. Will do it the day after tomorrow. Then he enters into a fornication with her. And then he will break the neighbor's family.
A heart filled with bad desires is the source of sin. For, as stated above, desire is the seed of sin. It is necessary to refrain from envy, not to allow such thoughts into your mind. This will be keeping the last commandment of the Lord.
Summarizing
We analyzed the commandments "do not steal", "do not make yourself an idol", "do not kill". In general, all ten commandments given to Moses by God himself. Recall again what they say:
- "I am the Lord your God." A person should not have other Gods than our Creator.
- Don't make yourself an idol. There is only one idol, He can do everything. People should not look for an idol among people.
- Don't take the name of your Lord in vain.
- Work six days, give the seventh to God.
- Honor your parents.
- Don't kill.
- Do not commit adultery. That is, do not enter into the sin of fornication.
- Don't steal.
- Do not bear false witness against your neighbor.
- Desire nothing that your neighbor has.
What is the commandment "Thou sh alt not steal"? She is one of the most famous even in the modern world. We remind you that she is the eighth in a row.
Conclusion
The commandments of God are the law given to people. We are afraid to break human law, fearing punishment and criminal liability. And we easily break the law of God, without any fear of His punishment. And it is much more terrible and heavier than received from people.
