Rune divination is one of the most popular divination practices. Each of the runes symbolizes a certain energy, on which the interpretation of predictions is based. You will come across one of the signs that is responsible for the forces prevailing at the moment in your life.

History of runes

The tradition of divination by runes is about 2000 years old. The first runic inscriptions date back to 200 BC. e. Runes were used to write on stone or wood, so they have such an angular appearance - to make it easier to carve. But besides their purely practical significance, they also had occult uses.

The word "rune" means "mystery" or "secret knowledge". According to legend, the runes were given to the god Odin after he hung for nine days, nailing himself to the world tree Yggdrasil with his own weapon - the magical spear Gungnir. From the bark of Yggdrasil, Odin carved the first signs.

Varieties of runic alphabets - futharks

The runic alphabet is called Futhark - according to the first letters of the six initial runes: Fehu, Uruz, Turisaz, Ansuz, Raido, Kanyo. There are severalvarieties of futars. Most often, for divination, the ancient Germanic so-called senior futhark is used. It has 24 runes, divided into 3 atta - three groups of runes, united by common properties. All other runic alphabets are usually called junior futharks. The number of runes in the younger futhark may differ from the classic futhark - for example, there are 16 Danish runes.

At the end of the 19th century, interest in various occult practices, including runes, flared up in secular society. The German mystic Guido von List, based on the Scandinavian Futhark, created Armanic runes - especially for magical practices. There are only 18 of them, and the names are somewhat different from those adopted in the older futhark.

Do Slavic runes exist?

There are different opinions about the existence of Slavic runes. History knows several archaeological finds on the territory of Veliky Novgorod with inscriptions resembling runic, but not related to ancient Germanic runes - the unknown letter was never deciphered. The existence of a prototype of writing among the Slavs is also not excluded. But the popularization of the "original" Slavic runes these days is most often an invention of amateur occultists.

How do they read runes?

For independent divination on runes and predictions, you must have your own set. Usually runes are carved from wood or stone and kept in a beautiful bag. Guessing them is extremely simple - you ask yourself a question and pull the rune out of the bag. Each of the runes has several levels of values- Based on the context of the situation, you choose the appropriate one. Sometimes, not one, but three runes are pulled out of the bag.

What should be the runes for the practice of divination?

The easiest way is to buy a set of runes in any esoteric store or ask a good master to make them for you. But ideally, in order for the rune predictions to be most correct, you should make them yourself. The most risky mystics are even ready to draw runes with their own blood, but in the 21st century this is already an excess. If you know how to handle tools, then you can carve runes on wooden dies or even on stones. Stones can be either simple pebbles collected on the seashore, or semi-precious or ornamental - for example, turquoise or malachite.

In order to maintain a connection between you and your runes, you must constantly contact them physically - touch in your hands, concentrate on tactile and visual sensations. The runes in your pouch are just a medium for their respective energies. The more often you work with runes, the more energy they accumulate in themselves and the stronger they become.

Wooden and stone runes

Ideally, wooden dies should also be cut independently from the branches of a tree that is closest to you in nature - apple, birch, yew, oak. Ash wood is considered a universal material for making runes (a reference to the world tree - Yggdrasil ash). To make them last longerserved, the dies need to be rubbed with sandpaper and varnished.

Stones are also used for runes

It will be more difficult to apply runes to a stone - you will need engraving tools or a screwdriver as a chisel. Masters do not advise limiting yourself to drawing only - in order for you to feel unity with your magical artifact, and the prediction was more accurate, the runes must be cut out.

Runes for meditation

Not only for predictions - runes can be used for meditation and self-development. Futhark is often depicted as a circle, which symbolizes the continuity of each of the runes and the transition from one type of energy to another. After passing the whole circle, the energy returns to its original state after endless transformations.

A series of meditations on each of the runes allows a person to better study not only his inner world, but also the universal laws of the Universe. At the very beginning of the study of the runes, each one needs to devote at least a few days - to concentrate on the image and study the form, determine where the energies and states of this rune manifest themselves in the world around.

Rune of Odin

In modern sets for divination on runes and predictions, an additional, empty rune is often found. It is often called the rune of Odin or the rune of Wyrd. The attitude of practitioners to this sign, or rather, its absence, is twofold. Some willingly introduce the rune of Odin into predictions, others deny its necessity and prefer the standard set of 24 runes.

Symbolism of the empty rune -The Absolute, containing everything and nothing at the same time. In divination, this rune shows that a higher power will take part in the development of the situation, and events will develop according to predestination. Guessing further, developing your own line of behavior, is already pointless.

Rune Meanings

Each of the runes has many interpretations. We will use the one that is given in the book of the Russian runologist Oleg Sinko "Runes: the practice of predictions."

Rune Fehu traditionally denotes cattle, symbolizing a person's property. Having fallen out in divination, it indicates the material sphere and the realization of basic needs. Often interpreted as a reward for hard work.

Rune Uruz - "bull" - symbolizes the unbridled energy of nature and the primeval beginning. Her appearance in fortune-telling says that forces are raging inside you now - it's time to use them to achieve your goals.
