Human speech is an amazing phenomenon not only in itself, but also due to the fact that we use words, most of which have existed for more than one thousand years. Just think, we communicate almost the way our ancestors did dozens of generations ago! And even those words and expressions that seem mysterious and incomprehensible to a modern native speaker, upon close examination, turn out to be “familiar strangers”. Reading old books, you could often come across a strange word: name. "What it is?" – they asked themselves in bewilderment. Is it a foreign word, or is it meaningless abracadabra? Don't rush to pass judgment. This is a very old word that came to us from the Church Slavonic language. It was formed by the fusion of two roots - the name and the rivers (rek). It turned out to be a name. What does it mean? Its first part - "name" - denotes the actual name of the person. "Rek" is the old form of the word "speech", speaking, pronouncing this name. Originally used in spiritualprayer texts as an indication of what should be in its place: Vasily, Anna, Evgenia, etc. That is, the personal name is the name. What it is is well known not only by priests, but also by clerks. The expression was often used in official papers until the beginning of the twentieth century. Connection to age-old egregores occurs through the sacrament of the Word, special language "formulas" that connect the person with invisible threads and mysterious forces (nature or higher), which are called to help. What is a name in conspiracies? The same as in prayers. In place of this expression, the name of the one on whom the conspiracy is being made should be given. For example, here is such a useful conspiracy that protects a person from any deception, theft, loss of money. You need to wrap the money (with a bill or coin) in a handkerchief and say: “I bow to the Lord, I pray to Michael the Archangel! I’ll deny all dashing people, from evil hearts and thoughts, so that they don’t fool their heads, so that they don’t take away money, they don’t direct fog at God’s servant (name - Natalya), so that they bypass! Another use of the word
In modern Russian, the expression "name" in everyday communication is quite rare. In dictionaries it is given with the note "outdated, book". It is usually used in an ironic context to replace someone's specific name. For example: “Ilya Ivanovich was a nervous, unbalanced and even somewhat violent person. Knowing that the neighbors, who mostly consisted of old women of advanced years, are rather afraid of him, this little man took advantage of this weakness of theirs, from time to time intercepting a penny "before payday". But, as is known,there are no non-working paychecks, and therefore the gray-haired dandelions of God did not expect the return of the borrowed. By the way, I. S.
