Each nation has its own religion, but assumes a single concept. Therefore, it is impossible to separate people with certainty according to religious principle. But those who profess Islam honor the sacred tradition, which is essentially a summary of the life of the Prophet Muhammad.
His actions serve as a model of virtue and are taken as the basis of the path of a true Muslim. It seems that this is a kind fairy tale, but this image is rich in hidden meaning, thanks to which the teaching enters the soul.
Islam and its differences from Christianity
The Quran, the holy book of Muslims, says that we must honor the One God, the one who is higher than all of us, the one who can bestow and punish, the one who at one time sent the truth to Jesus, Ismail, Moses and Abraham. The founder of the religion was Muhammad, the prophet, who is considered above all others. The basis of faith is the worship of Allah and Muhammad. Muslims believe that Allah is higher than a simple person, his actions are the standard and living according to the laws of Allah is the highest grace, since after the death of a faithful Muslim, gardens of paradise with unearthly bliss await. Islam has five main pillars of faith. It is herannouncement, daily prayer, charity, fasting, pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca.
Muslim prayer can be performed both independently and under the guidance of a more religious person.
What is Sunnah?
This is the very legend about the life of the Prophet. For every Muslim community, the sunnah is the basic teaching about life. After the Koran, this is the second source of law, absorbing all the actions of the Prophet, his words and thoughts. Until a certain time, the sunnah is orally transmitted words, then fixed in the form of hadiths. There is a close relationship between it and the Qur'an, but there are a few minimal differences. Still, the sunnah is a special kind of instruction, therefore it is easier and clearer for a religious person to follow it. The Qur'an causes greater reverence and serves to realize one's sinfulness. By the way, there is a kind of criterion for Islamic jurists - knowledge of the Sunnah, without which their opinion will not be authoritative.
The Power of the Sunnah
After the death of Muhammad, the founder of Islam, the sunnah made it possible to deal with many questions about the life of the community and the Caliphate.
But I must say that the significance of this thing has never diminished, and since the ninth century it has been revered almost on a par with the Koran. It turned out that the sunnah is a common name, since sometimes they mean the sunnah of Allah, which is the Koran, and sometimes the Prophet. Sometimes these are desirable deeds, and in a number of countries this word denotes the rite of circumcision - khitan.
Private
Eventhe most religious people cannot spend all their time in prayer, although in this respect Muslims are far ahead of the whole planet, because they pray five times a day. In addition to the obligatory ones, a prayer according to the Sunnah can be performed. For its failure there will be no punishment, unlike obligatory prayers, but no one expects any reward either. At least material. The value of such a prayer is in cleansing from sins, correcting the errors of obligatory prayer. Muslims believe that Allah counts all prayers and can punish for insufficient number.
During such communication with Allah, a person focuses on his thoughts, moves away from the frailty of the world around him and can express his emotions. No wonder the sunnah is a collection of rules and worldly wisdom gleaned from the acts of the Prophet. It allows you to understand the Prophet, his attitude to the Koran and imbued with his faith. Such prayer comes from the heart, not from the mind.
People of the Sunnah
There is even a major branch of the religion of Islam - Sunnism. People of the Sunnah carefully follow the path of the Prophet, take his actions as a model and guide to life. Among the representatives of this movement there are differences in the rules of legal decisions, holidays and attitudes towards non-Christians. Conventionally, there are more than one billion Sunnis, that is, 90% of all devout Muslims. This sacred tradition is revered by all sects as the most important source of faith after the Koran.
The tradition itself is called the hadith. They also name each saying of the Prophet, of which there are a huge number.
Quran and Sunnah
Theologians from different countries agree that the sunnah is the best tool for interpreting the holy book. From Arabic, the word "sunnah" is translated as "custom". That is, this collection of hadiths contains all the information about the actions and words of Muhammad, his life and wives. Muslim mythology has an instructive character, allows allegorically to condemn human sins, bad emotions, anger and bad words. According to it, Allah is the highest power that has an adversary - Shaitan Iblis, who is the only one of all the angels who refused to obey the man created by Allah. Allah has given man a will, but a faithful Muslim wants to go to heaven, and therefore follows the command of Allah and tries to be the same as Muhammad (the prophet).
There are many similarities between the Bible and the Koran. In fact, this is a free interpretation of one story, when Adam and Eve turn into Adam and Hava. After being exiled to the land, Adam gains strength in the Muslim community, where relations are regulated by Sharia. The followers of Islam must recognize that there is no God but Allah and Muhammad, who is his prophet. Apostasy was punished much more severely than now, punishable by death.
When the Prophet died, caliphs took his place and a split occurred in the community. Close relatives also claimed power.
Features of Sunnism
The Sunni community participates in the choice of its head - the caliph, but does this not through personal attachments, but on the basis of signs of belonging to thisdirection of Islam.
The term "Sunnism" itself took shape a very long time ago, although there is no exact date. In essence, this is a teaching about following the life path of the Prophet.
In modern Islam
Among Muslims, the sunnah is a collection of norms of state, criminal, property and family law. No wonder they believe that in the sacred books you can find answers to all questions that arise. And if there is no situation encountered in the books, it means that there is no point in thinking about it.
Initially, the basis of everything was the Sunnah of Muhammad, which included deeds and statements. Hadiths were a necessity, since the divine provisions of the Koran were not enough to solve a number of issues among new generations of Muslims. Therefore, we had to delve into the content of Muhammad's speeches to his contemporaries. The very image of the Prophet, the leader and founder of religion, is also interesting. At first, poor and persecuted by everyone, he was not afraid to speak out against his fellow tribesmen, which caused the respect and awe of Muslims. Anyone could trust such a person, so the doctrine of the Prophet became a symbol of faith in law, the word of God, history and literature.
How to be treated according to the Sunnah?
It is not surprising that if there is a guide to action for any life realities, treatment according to the Sunnah is also possible. Many believers even now prefer to refuse modern means and the help of doctors, motivating their refusal by the fact that Allah knows how and when a person should die, and therefore He will send a cure. Treatment according to the sunnah is otherwise called the medicine of the Prophet. Based on Qur'anic verses orprophetic hadiths. It is customary to refer to treatment everything that the Prophet described in response to the questions of his companions about getting rid of ailments. The medicine of the Prophet concerns not only the direct he alth of a person, but also the food, drink, housing, and even marriage. This does not mean that Muslims do not recognize doctors, but whenever possible they try to be treated with natural herbs and remedies, ignoring chemical preparations.
When compiling collections of hadith, scholars created entire sections for medicine in order to break down statements by topic. Imam Malik was the first to do this in the collection Al-Muwata, and he was followed by Imam al-Bukhari, Imam Muslim and others. On the medicine of the Prophet, Ali ar-Riza ibn Musa al-Kazim compiled a separate book. It was a short treatise. But the book "Prophetic Medicine" was written by al-Malik ibn Habib al-Andulusi, who was also called the Alim of Andalusia. This is the first work with subsections. The Prophet said that Allah did not send diseases without treatment, and the only disease for which there is no antidote is death. That is, the hadiths encourage treatment and call for the search for new medicines. The Prophet and his revered family followed the commandments of Allah and took medicine and drank herbal teas to prevent illness. And now you can find herbs, leaf tea and spices in the Arab markets, which awaken the tone, drive away the runny nose and relieve pain during menstruation. That is, all the medicines are nearby, you just have to want to find them.
