Constellation Aries: the golden fleece of the zodiac

Aries is the first sign of the zodiac. This is due to the fact that in ancient times the constellation Aries was the place of the vernal equinox point. It consists of eighty-two stars, the brightest of which are Gamal and Sheratan, as well as the double star Mesarthim. They line up in an arc similar to the twisted horns of a ram. An ancient Greek legend tells about how the constellation Aries appeared, about Gella and Frix, who their evil stepmother tried to get rid of. They fled from her on a flying ram with golden hair, but the girl slipped off this "vehicle" and drowned in the sea. Frix sacrificed a ram to Zeus, the patron saint of travelers, and the golden skin became a gift to the king, in whom the young man found shelter. The king hung the golden fleece in a grove dedicated to the warlike god Ares and guarded by a dragon. Then this fleece became the goal of the Argonauts' journey, and the ram, allegedly, was turned into a constellation by the Olympic gods.

On the 21st of March, the Sun enters the constellation Aries and leaves it on the 20th of April.
