Probably, the inhabitants of most civilized countries, in which a woman is not perceived as a creature of some lower grade, it is difficult to imagine that in many countries the procedure of female circumcision is still practiced. Moreover, it is done in terrible conditions. And the impact of this "surgical intervention" on a woman's life is simply terrible. So what is female circumcision? Information that will allow many to understand that we are fantastically lucky to be born into a normal society!
What is female circumcision? Two interpretations of the term
In most countries of the world, female circumcision is understood as a procedure that is completely harmless to he alth, which, in principle, is designed to remove cosmetic defects of the genital organs. For example, removal of excess tissue of the labia minora. Sometimes the slimy hood that covers the clitoris is also excised.
But! In 28 countries around the world, this is far from being the case! There are completely different operations. So, female circumcision! Why do they make it, for example, in Africa? And what is pharaonic circumcision, as well as sunnah and excision?
To begin with, there are three types of circumcision for women. The first:only the skin folds surrounding the clitoris are excised, that is, it is constantly open and, therefore, more sensitive. This is called Sunnah.
Second method: the clitoris and labia minora are removed completely. This procedure is called excision or clitorectomy. It is clear that after such an intervention, a full-fledged sexual life for a woman is a big question. That is, it will be precisely a marital duty, but not an opportunity to have fun!
And finally, the third option. That is the Pharaoh's circumcision. It's even worse here. After removal of the labia minora and clitoris, the major lips are sutured so that the opening remains minimal. By the way, fabrics can be sewn in such a way that intimacy will be impossible in principle. If, however, a decision is made that it is worth allowing the girl to perform marital duties and have children, then the hole expands (again, surgically).
Now it becomes clearer what female circumcision is. But that's not all! It turns out that these manipulations are performed with girls who are about 5 years old. In some cases, there is no question of any sterility and the use of special instruments (as well as anesthesia). What seems more convenient can be used as a tool: scissors, glass, knife.
Why is FGM performed?
The answer to this question from the point of view of any sane person is just deadly! It is believed that excision and pharaonic circumcision guarantee that a woman willfaithful to her husband and will not become a girl of easy virtue. Accordingly, a girl who was not circumcised in childhood cannot become the wife of a worthy man. She is by definition a prostitute.
Is this still practiced?
Unfortunately yes! For example, in the UK, such a procedure was legally prohibited only in 1985.
