The mention of the martyr is in different biblical stories. So, stories about the righteous can be found in the epistle of the Apostle James. But more complete information is contained in the biblical book of Job.
The life of a martyr
The Old Testament describes the whole fate of our character. The book says that he was a man who moved away from evil, just, blameless and God-fearing. He had a wife, three daughters and seven sons. The long-suffering Job had we alth and a happy family. Satan paid close attention to this success. He convinced God of Job's untrue piety, saying that if he had not had such a family and we alth, he would not have been so blameless. If you take away this earthly happiness, you can see the true essence of this person. God decided to give Satan the opportunity to test this with various trials and temptations. He wanted to be convinced of the purity and sinlessness of Job. As agreed, Satan took the children at once, and then the we alth. Seeing that the man remained devoted to God and unshakable, he added to him even more suffering in the form of a terrible leprosy that covered his entire body. long-sufferingJob became an outcast. This forced him to leave the city, the unfortunate man had to constantly scrape scabs from his entire body with a shard, while being in mud and manure. Seeing how her husband was suffering, the wife argued that she needed to stop believing in God and renounce him.
Then, as punishment, Job will die. In response, the righteous man said that when God gives us happiness, joy comes into our lives. We accept such a gift, but in the same way we must accept the misfortunes sent to us. The long-suffering Job patiently endured all the bad weather, continuing to believe in God with the same strength. At the same time, he did not even allow evil thoughts or reproaches towards his creator. Job had many friends who, having learned about his torments, at first simply silently sympathized with the poor fellow. However, later they came and began to look for excuses for such grief in his past. They believed that a person should suffer for previous sins. They began to talk about his offenses before God and that now he must repent for his misdeeds. After all, nothing goes unpunished. But Saint Job the Long-suffering was pure before God and, even experiencing such torments, did not drop a single word of grumbling in his direction. He tried to explain to his friends that he had no sins and endured such suffering because the Lord, in his mind, unattainable for man, gives one a happy fate, and another - trials. It didn't work to convince them. In response, they said that Job presented his punishment as undeserved, because he tried to justify himself andproves his innocence. After such a conversation, the righteous man in prayer asked God for proof of his innocence, so that his friends would believe him.
Soon the Lord appeared before him in the form of a stormy whirlwind. God pointed out his requests as bold and presumptuous, as Job demanded an account. The Lord said that for people there are many incomprehensible things in the world creation, the creation of all living things, and the desire to know the true reasons why some live happily and others live in torment, to know the secret of fate is presumptuous, it is simply not given to an ordinary person.
Healing of the martyr
Soon the long-suffering Job began to recover and make even greater prosperity. After all the torments he endured, the Lord blessed him, giving again three daughters and seven sons. Job saw four generations of his offspring, living another 140 years (the Old Testament says he lived a total of 248 years). Such an example taught friends to fear only the sword of the Lord, and deprivation of earthly goods and bodily pain can be endured.
Western philosophy
Soren Kierkegaard was a Christian thinker and expressed his opinion that there is much more wisdom in the actions of Job than in all the works of Hegel. He compared the martyr's knowledge of the will of God with the construction of the thoughts of many great philosophers. In particular, Socrates, who was sincerely confident in the power of the human mind. Modern philosophers such as Lev Shestov interpret the story of Job in terms ofirrationalism.
The Holy Book of Muslims
The Qur'an describes Job as the prophet Ayyub - persecuted and dejected. There is an opinion that the righteous Job the Long-suffering was the progenitor of the ancient Romans. On the territory of states whose main religion is Islam, there were many cities in which the tomb of Job was allegedly located. This is Salala in Oman, the Syrian Deir-Ayyub, a village near the city of Ramli, the mausoleum in Bukhara Chashma-Ayub, in Turkey - the former Edessa.
Russian modern philosophy
The political and religious philosopher Nikolai Berdyaev believes that such an example of a martyr refutes the Jewish view that a person should be rewarded for sinless behavior while still alive. At the same time, all the problems that fall on the shoulders of a person are punishments for his sins, God's wrath, which testifies to the deviation of the suffering and righteous from the right path. According to this philosopher, humanity simply cannot understand the very essence of innocent suffering. People cannot refuse the expediency of everything that happens in the world around them. Many people are sure that if there is a punishment for imperfect sins, then there is simply no God, just as there is no God's providence.
Building a church
In Sarov, not far from the city cemetery, in October 2008 they began to build a wooden parish church of Job the Long-suffering. At the base of the altar, a solemn laying of the stone was held. Archbishop George of Arzamas and Nizhny Novgorod came to this event.
Then the construction of the temple of Job the Long-suffering was much slower, with difficulties associated with the rapid development of the economic crisis in 2009. 2010 was a period when many economic issues were resolved, such as interior decoration and insulation, fire alarms and electrical networks. The most important was the manufacture of domes. The first cross was consecrated in 2011, on April 22. Three days later, the first Divine Liturgy was held. The next one took place on May 19 - in honor of the First Patronal Feast. On June 28, the church of Job the Long-suffering (Sarov) was consecrated by Metropolitan Georgy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas.
