History
The appearance of the cathedral was planned in the 40s of the twentieth century. The Frunze Orthodox community (the name of Bishkek at the time) received approval to build the temple in 1944. Under the church, the building of the Kirpromsovet was allocated, the construction of which was not completed. Only the walls were ready then - neither the roof nor the decoration existed. The reconstruction was carried out according to the project of V. Veryuzhsky. The internal structure of the church was comprehensively considered. A three-tiered iconostasis separated the altar. The thrones of St. Alexis and the Resurrection of the Lord were erected in the church.
The walls were finished with ceramics. The ceiling of the temple is a box-shaped vault. The roof was double pitched. The decorations of the temple are crowns on narrow drums. The church is crowned with a hipped bell tower, towering 29.5 meters above the surroundings.

Decision onreconstruction
For all the time of its existence, the Svyair-Resurrection Cathedral has never been restored. Bishkek could not afford to make any significant reconstruction, only cosmetic repairs were carried out from time to time.
Archpriest Igor Dronov said that the issue of a major renovation arose a long time ago, but before that there was no time for it. After accepting the ordination, Bishop Daniel of Bishkek decided to get acquainted with the state of the temples. Climbing up to the roof, he saw that it had fallen into complete disrepair. Immediately after this, it was decided to immediately begin reconstruction. In addition, an altar part was added, so the roof would have to be changed anyway.
Reconstruction
The Holy Resurrection Cathedral in Bishkek is an architectural monument of republican significance. Therefore, in order to obtain permission to repair it, it is necessary to obtain approval from various authorities. So, to resolve the issue, seismologists, designers, architects, geologists and representatives of the Ministry of Culture were needed. As a result of these visits, representatives of the diocese were left with a bunch of prescriptions in their hands.
In such a neglected state as the Holy Resurrection Cathedral (Bishkek) was, the photos of which today are an adornment of catalogs, it was already pointless to talk about repairs - a complete restoration was needed. When it was time to complete the altar part of the building, difficulties began. It was planned to cover the building with a roof in the same style, butthere were doubts about the ability of the walls to withstand it. After a survey by various authorities, a plan was developed to ensure that the church did not lose its functionality.
Thus, it was decided to strengthen the foundation, part of the walls and completely replace the roof. According to the plan, the façade remained outwardly unchanged, but this is up to the designers and architects.
Findings
When the workers began to dismantle the Holy Resurrection Cathedral in Bishkek, specifically the altar part of the wall, frescoes were found under the plaster casts decorating it. These icons appeared during construction, but during one of the repairs they were covered with modern elements. Such a discovery gave food for thought about the safety of the found beauty. To do this, they invited artists who are familiar with the restoration of such jewelry. Experts, having examined the frescoes, came to the conclusion that they are subject to restoration. Initially, they wanted to use only a layer of paint, but in this case, the likelihood of destruction of the frescoes increased. Therefore, they cut out part of the wall, enclosing it in a concrete frame that prevents spilling.
After the measures taken, the icons can be transferred to a prepared place. Weighing about 5 tons, the icons can be restored.
Upgrade Features
Applying modern technology, the architects developed a project showing the new look of the cathedral, with a high vault and new domes. It was especially important to take into account the acoustic characteristics. The speech delivered during the service in the Holy Resurrection Cathedral should not sound too loud, but also not be deaf. This is very important because the priest does not raise his voice, but everyone should hear it.
The ideal option is not to resort to the help of speakers and any equipment. The echo does not allow sound to be perceived adequately, but the domed vault allows the sound to "fall" evenly, spreading over the entire area.
Plans
Bishkek is financing the reconstruction. Holy Resurrection Cathedral is slowly changing its appearance. This is helped not only by the authorities, but also by residents: electricians and some builders work for free. Citizens help with money, strength, prayer. The priests are grateful for any help, as it makes it possible to quickly restore the Holy Resurrection Cathedral (Bishkek). Services can be held in a “naked” cathedral, Igor Dronov believes. The main thing was to complete the restoration of the walls and the equipment of the roof in time. The interiors are being gradually completed. It has been noticed that if there are services in the temple, the rest of the work takes much less time, they are fully consistent with the ideas, leaving no feeling of dissatisfaction.
